That's funny, I was going post a thread about what is the most suitable colour for a GS.

Following a post by Timolgra in this thread where Onahi has repainted his 1150 in Alpine White I was wondering what non-standard colour would best suit an 1150.

I recently got a Touratech 41ltr tank for my black 1150 and as the tank is white I have thought about maybe repainting the whole bike.

The colour must be non-standard and green is definately out.

At the moment I quite fancy the orangey-red in "denim" finish that Triumph use on their Street Triple.

My Ard Cases are battleship grey with black lids so I am looking for something that will contrast with and compliment them.

Car colours might well work so can be considered too.

This is the bike as is now.

What would you suggest?

If thats what you want? then go for it. I'm sure it will look fantastic.

Had this picture in my collection.. wrong colour I know ~ but may give you some idea of what it'll end up looking like (ish).

I always liked black&yellow, or orange, since it is the most powerful chromatic contrast ;)

having the same dilemma myself with the 1100.

I saw a photo of a bike on advrider (can't remember which thread) which was painted the same matt desert sand/tan colour as the army tanks over in the gulf.

The bike looked really well.

I want to do my gs with this flecktarn on the left How practical it is I don't know But Hey Ho Fun for all

Save your money and buy Mandy a Christmas present. It looks great as it is:augie

Always fancied the Triumph orange so if you are not sureI will let you pay to paint mine to see what it looks like :D:D:D

I've got a spare 'body set' that I'm preparing to paint Alpine White but I'll stick with just the BM roundel - no additional graphics. Part of me also wants to powder-coat the frame (front and rear subframes, centre and side stands, possibly the telelever) blue a bit like the R80GS Kalahari:

But I've yet to convince myself that it would look anything other than tacky....... I just can't get the idea out of my head, though....

Go on, tell me it's wrong.

Another possibility would be to go for a deep wine red similar to that found on the R80ST (the Honda colour used on the Blackbird would look good) but that would be more of a refined 'street' look like the blue one above than the off-road white/blue.

I guess my 1100 is going alpine white.

I got an 1150GSA white tank a few weeks ago, but was bidding on a TT 41L tank on eBay yesterday. Since I didn't get the TT tank, the 1100 will go the colour of the GSA tank.
