You could always unplug the stepper motors, but I haven't found this necessary.
I would imagine that Mouse is correct. at 4000rpm with bike at rest, there is not much load, but throttles will still be way past idle and I cannot believe that stepper motors would have much effect.

Somewhere I saw a reference that disconnecting the stepper motors can fry them .Not sure why, maybe they self destruct on reconnection
I wonder if anyone has dared to try this for confirmation?
The Twinmax can be used during ridng, thereby checking the balance under load, maybe this is better.
I did not expect to trigger such compliceted answers. My problem is that my idle balance is not balanced at idle, so somehow the stepper motors are not doing their jobs effectively.
So next question...
What are your bikes like at idle, are they perfectly balanced?
