What could I expect to get for £5k to £6k?

Like a bad penny:D

Sorry Oh Dark One, but the ways of old still burden my typing finger.

Apologies Kai:cool:

My big concern is what I have heard re vibes as my VFR is bad enough at putting my right hand to sleep (ooer missus).

I would recommend a test ride, as the 1150 I tried last year was so vibey I found it too much to live with (yeah I know you hardened BM guys have no problem with this!).

Admittedly I only had 45 mins in the saddle and would doubtless need a couple of days to aclimatise, when compared to my SV650 V-twin is was like chalk and cheese. Loved the bike (the incredible handling shocked me) but that's why I'm waiting for the GS1200 which if it has only 20% less vibes then that should be okay (plus the extra oomph).

I would think getting off a VFR on to a boxer will be a big culture shock, so negotiate a half day's test ride if I were you.

I aim to try to get a test ride. But given that my 'local' BMW dealer is 70 miles away in Glasgow, I plan on seeing if there are any in other make dealers that are near by. Either way, I am not in a hurry. I think that I'll probably just stick with the VFR until I can afford to commit to buying a 1200.

I got a 2 hour test of the 1200 which was enough to make me want one! Yes it is quite different, but in a good way. In an ideal world, I'd have both bikes!

Kai

It's all very familiar in here. Plus the nice retro stylee too! ;)
