Hi Guys,

This isn`t a rant or an excuse for any or all of us to go round torching V Strom riders (they are all great bikers like us!) but I thought I would share this with you as it just goes to show what some people think of our beloved bikes!

The image below is a reply from a geezer (and a nice geezer at that) when I mentioned that I had ordered my new bike!

Once again, this is only meant as a very `non important` observation on how others see our lovely Gs`s!

I`m sure he isn`t - its just a friendly poke I`m sure however it still makes you wonder............

And as an side I am sure I have got a photo of a V strom on the back of a truck - when i went to France a couple of years ago my mates bike broke down and I had the forsight to take a photo.

Must find it and send it to him..............:D

You prefer the AA lorry or the V-Strom crappy suspension?

ha ha ha ha ha funny.

Actually, and its only my opinion, I did have a go on the said v strom before it broke down and I must say it was horrible. I`m sure my mate loved it as much as I love my GS`s but heavens above it was indeed the bike of the devils crotch.

It felt like I was on an overstuffed sofa and handled like a fat lass on a shopping trolley (not that I have anything against fat lasses - they are far more appreciative.........)

But yes a horrible thing to ride but once again only my opinion as they do have a big following.

And as for the fastener quality - dont get me started on that one - made from blue tack I say!:rob

It's widely known in other bike circles that GS riders are

Rich kids

Mostly new to Adv bikes, after watching LWR/LWD

Add loads of useless tat to their bikes, without function

Don't know their biking 'arse from their elbow'

Have bikes that break down a lot and are usually expensive to repair

Brash, who must have the latest Adv gadgets even if they will never use them

Use alloy boxes, when soft luggage is probably better

Wouldn't know how fix their bike, so carry their BMW Assist cards

Use hideously overpriced and overweight bikes offroad, then cry when they fall off within the first 100yds

Think that £600 for 2 days offroading at BMW offroad skills is reasonable, to most other bikers £600 is 2 weeks camping in France on a trip

Need I go on.....:blast

I have a picture of 6 month old v Strom on the back of a truck, it was mine!!!

Yeah, I guess you could be right for some people eh? Shame but I`m pleased to say that there are still a great deal of bikers out there who will still stop for another biker even if he is on a BMW!

Sh*t loads of GS's on the roads these days so if you see a bike on the back of a AA truck chances are it'll be a GS.............!:thumb

Simples!:D

Rich kids - well ye've got me there guv :D

Mostly new to Adv bikes, after watching LWR/LWD - nope first GS was 30 years ago

Add loads of useless tat to their bikes, without function - fag ligther powered car tomtom :D

Don't know their biking 'arse from their elbow' - having done 1400kms from Picos to Nice in a day, I know what biking 'arse' is? Not sure about elbow though :D

Have bikes that break down a lot and are usually expensive to repair - 135,000kms and broken down twice.

Brash, who must have the latest Adv gadgets even if they will never use them - brash, but don't have any gadgets.

Use alloy boxes, when soft luggage is probably better - Got the 1200 ADV boxes on my 1150 and they're feckin brilliant.

Wouldn't know how fix their bike, so carry their BMW Assist cards - never used one

Use hideously overpriced and overweight bikes offroad, then cry when they fall off within the first 100yds - fall off often, but NEVER cry :augie

Think that £600 for 2 days offroading at BMW offroad skills is reasonable, to most other bikers £600 is 2 weeks camping in France on a trip - two weeks camping in France? :flag

So there you are an over 50s exception :D

I'm sure its just jealousy with most, I find most bikes are ok, I don't go out of my way to ridicule anyone about what bike they ride, after all we all ride motorcycles,

I tend to get sneers whichever bike i'm on,:D Whether its my GS , or G/S or my Harley Davidson, or my R1200C Cruiser,

Hope you get your bike soon Mark, I'll be needing a crud catcher for my new WC ooops meant LC,

Cheers Graham

Soon I hope

Yeah you are right , just treat people the way you want to be treated ,off topic , when,s yours due Mark?:flag

Arrives in the UK next week HOPEFULLY then i guess the following week????

Sadly I am away for the BH weekend otherwise i would spend it on the bike woohoo

The thing with stereotypes is they tend to have a lot of truth about them.

On first glance mark you looked like the cliche personified! then I sat and talked to you for a while and found you where a top bloke. You can't always judge a book n all that.
