Those ring spanners with a gap in - so as you can slip them over items (such as the temp sensor in this case) where a wire comes out the top. I could make one myself but I know you can buy them. I just can't think what they are called. Claws? Don't think so.. A Crow foot would do it but I'd prefer a spanner

ta for any help

I would call them a bloody good idea. I too needed one at the weekend to remove the oil temp. sensor. I even tried to make a spanner out of some steel bar but it didn't work.

If someone does know what they're called and where I can get some please post soon. My front left indicator fell off the other week which was tricky to get back on because of the wire.

Especially as if your going to swap the sensor then you will have to unplug it at some point anyway.

I've a compartment in one of my tool boxes which holds thirty years worth of 'customised' spanners - you can do anything with a grinder, a vice and a lump hammer :D

I had to resort to feeding the connector through the spanner. It was a tight fit but I went through in the end.

I prefer to buy new tools though. :augie I didn't know about flare spanners and I didn't want to buggar up my only 19mm ring spanner. So, I wandered down to B&Q and bought a steel bar and a bench grinder to see if I could make one. I failed but I do now have a bench grinder to play with :bounce1

Now, where are those blunt kitchen knives.......

IIRC, the connector is a bit tight on the 19mm ring, but if you trim the corners very slightly with a stanley knife it goes fine. I acctually have a full set of flare spanners but used a normal ring for reasons that currently escape me.
