I've just had the first 100km (600m) service done on my 1200 GS here in South Africa - at current exchange rates it was around UKP70'ish
26 units of labour, and they changed engine oil and gear/final drive oil (not sure which as I don't have the receipt with me).
Does that compare favourably to the UK and Europe?
Cheers,
Dave.

Not a 1200 owner' however I've had two new r1150gs 's both where treat to a free 600 mile dealer 1st service which was included in the sales blurb, I seem to recall a nominal charge for oil and sealing washers about £12.00 back in yr 2000. Still got my invoice and bla bla ... labour content free, oil + sundries charged.

Mine is going in on monday to a german garage and have been quoted 220 Euro think thats about 170 Uk Pounds for the first service

£97.61 including a loaner at £5 & twirly piece of brightly coloured plastic so i don't forget my shackle lock's on at £1.99.

on a more pleasing note, did you know servicing is cheaper for the 12s than it is for 1150s?

6K service is £40 less 'frinstance :)

i think they are working on the assumption that the bike will have been taken apart & checked a number of times between services under warranty :P

I'd shop around!

T - If I were you, I'd find a new local dealer - I got mine done for 112Euros (not incl MWST) down in Hammer's in MG and the service was Mega - Had a K1200R for 24hrs even though the service only took a couple of hours, and all at no extra cost.
Any chance of taking a trip down to the Eifels before the winter sets in proper? I know a few good routes and Cafes etc down there - I go most weekends - only an hour away from here.
:upyou
