What do you love or hate about the R Nine T ?

Good looking bike...:thumby:
Even better without the number on the tank and if it had the lighter tubeless cast wheels that come stock on the Pure...:D

Yes it is the one in marshalls phil,
I am a spoked wheels guy, had 2 punctures in 40 years, fingers crossed,
After 12 years of gs and adventures i fancied it,
Its my 60 th birthday present, so the 21 is how old i felt riding it,,
I only ride solo so the seat hump is ideal,
I tried a multistrada a few years back found it hard work below 40 mph,
Looking at a sump guard, any preferences ? The sw moto one is favourite at the moment,
Has anyone used the mud sling or hugger ,

Now I know what the 21 stands for...;)
Make mine 16...;)
I got the sw-motech sump guard on mine as also the Ilmberger hugger !
As for the spoked wheels they look nice but they are heavy with the tubes and in case of a flat...good luck !
Enjoy you 21th birthday gift...:beerjug:
The R9T is a lot of fun...:thumby:

Hi Roamer, its my favourite bike/colour scheme at the moment, really liked it but I didn’t want to trade my urban, sump guard I have a standard Gs one that ill not use, also have a Mudsling that’s ready to go on, I know what you mean about the Multistrada...
Good luck with the bike, it looks great..

The tubed tyre rims seem to be a concern for some for various reasons,
I looked into the Outex tubeless conversion kits recommended by a friend,
I will be fitting a kit while the rims are new, at £129 for both wheels seems good value,
You guys may allready know, just sharing ,kit no is FR355RN,

Had a longer spin on my Urban yesterday.
Rear shock not as bad as initially feared - perhaps fed by comments on here. It’s still not GS quality though so will invest in a new one once I decide between M Shock and Wilbers.
I got covered in road crap, back of the bike too. Worse bike for it I’ve ridden. Maybe a hugger will help?
Engine is a delight, perfect fuelling. It felt as good/smooth as my old 2011 hilltopped/full Akra system 1200GS.
Seat was comfy all day, though numerous stops included.
Love the looks which is important to me cos I’m shallow. Will add +30mm to the new shock to jack the rear up a bit, aesthetics rather than handling.
Coped very well with the shit covered B/C roads I prefer to inhabit, inspired a fair bit of confidence though the TKC,s spun up twice on manhole covers - more my fault for being ham fisted.
Overall , very much like it. Couple of mods needed, shock as mentioned and a rear rack to carry a bag etc. Il leave the pipe alone as it sounds awesome as stock. Maybe some decat headers if a set crops up but otherwise all good

Its overall a nice fun bike that is a bit more manageable for moving around stationary , than the very capable gs,
I am now half way to lighter tubeless wheels, used the 3 m tape method on the rear, there is a tangeable difference in ride/ compliance, main reason easy fix punctures, front will be done later at tyre change then i can review the rear ,
Otherwise loving the bike inc comfort, put a rear hugger on which seems to have made the dirt fling similar to wc gs, changed the rear shock and added front pre load to balance the sag, backed off compression damping 2 clicks, [ Classic 9t]
went for hepco becker rack and sw moto throw over panniers, for camping and touring , nothing permanent so the seat hump can go on for day rides, racing to cafe etc,
Will be testing its longer distance touring potential in march with an annual trip to the south of france non motorway routes,

I ride my wife's R9T occasionally. Its one of the early original ones which she copped in her Monster for and I hate:
1. The foot pegs digging into my calves at rest. I've altered the pegs, but they still dig (maybe it the way the seat forces me to sit/stand at rest).
2. The brake lever (the actuator) is a very very very poor design, which means that there is a fairly long travel before the brake bites. There is a fix, but its pretty complex and probably not worth it.

it looks good though!

Yes I know it’s a very old thread but i decided to add to it. Converted my 9T 2019 roadster/classic to a very usable tourer. At 5’6 it’s fits me well flat footed, got rid of the std rear shock and fitted an eye watering K tech and it glides like silk.
As there wasn’t any decent luggage I built my own tube system in the OEM style to take two types of Shad hard luggage, the SH23 for town work and SH36 for tours. I also made a rear mudguard in the style of BMW OEM that works and a high level SAT NAV mount/ dart screen frame that can’t be bought for the twin clock classic. Yes as a base bike it needed work and research as it comes without anything but the main genes are GS in a sporty light mini skirt without the unwanted bulk.

Had my 2021 9t for nearly a year and still loving it, easy to move around handles great, Wilber’s shock, Voigt bar risers, Ventura luggage kit, Dart fly screen, mudsling and crud catcher, did a ride to Spain in June and it’s just as uncomfortable as any other bike at 69 years old but it’s a keeper for now
And it has the upgraded tubeless spoked wheels

Love a retro looking bike and have had many but finally tried an R9T a couple of years ago and bought a Scrambler. The R9T has an engine the other retro bikes can’t match which is what sold it to me. Fast forward a year and I swapped it for an Urban GS which I’ve slowly turned into a bike to fit me that ticks most of my boxes. It’s not as capable as my GS, as flexible as my Kove or as fast as my STRS but it’s the keys I look for first.
Just waiting for my high level Arrow exhaust to arrive and it’s pretty much finished.

Pics please

It’s got 70mm lift on the Andreani extended forks and Nitron rear shock, Wunderlich peg lowers (20mm), Wunderlich bar risers (20mm) and Wunderlich comfort seat (20mm) to give a little more room. 6ft 1” and I can’t flat foot 🤣

I'm a relatively new R9T owner and my first Beemer too. Wanted something modern after chasing my heart and ending up with a shed full (3 bikes fills the shed!) of classics. I sold the Guzzi Le Mans last year after a couple of years ownership and a blast touring the Picos. This was replaced with a '21 9T in October. I'm not touring all the time, the majority of rides are within a few hours of the house with the occasional longer run thrown in. I thought long and hard before buying the bike and realised that I really didn't need a 'full-on' tourer for the minimal time I take off with mates for more than a day. One alternative - an adventure bike, to be honest, leaves me cold because of the size and weight. I'm sure I could thrash around on a GS as well as the next man - but after a few years on a Triumph Tiger I realised that the style of bike isn't really me.

On paper the R9T should be the perfect bike, although I haven't solved the luggage problem to my liking as yet. I've put a Wunderlich Daytona fairing on it as I like the look and a bit of protection is a good thing right? Seat was tackled with a re-build of the original from Viking Seats with a gel insert. I experimented with a Wunderlich comfort seat for a while but didn't really get on with it.

The problem is I'm not feeling that I'm really bonding with the bike in the way I have with some others over the years. Its very competent and quick but there's something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's suffering the BMW trait for me of being too good?! Sounds bonkers doesn't it - but that's all I can think it is. I've been a Guzzi rider for years now so the 'character' of those Guzzis is probably missing. I also grew up with the a string of 70's and 80's Universal Japanese Motorcycles (UJM's) before then so I'm more of a fan of a classic looking bike. Most other options don't appeal massively because of the modern styling.

Hmmm - so what is this idiot rambling on about ? What do I like about the R9T - loads. The engine is fab from a power perspective, plenty of it and lots of low down grunt which I really like. The looks of the bike are right for me, and the addition of the Daytona fairing almost give it that classic R90S look. What don't I like - comfort can be a problem without some investment. I've popped some 20mm risers which help at the bars, and the seat needs some messing with from standard. After playing about with the rear shock settings I have reluctantly concluded that I need to do something about that if I keep the bike. I suppose that's the $64,000 question, should I keep the bike? My last modern-ish Guzzi was a fantastic beast, a V1200 Sport from 2008 vintage. These are getting old now so I'm a little reluctant to go back to a 15-20 year old main bike. The new watercooled ones (V100 Mandello) appeal slightly - but styling doesn't quite do it for me. The Guzzi V85TT intrigues a bit, lots of very happy owners. I think I may miss the seat of the pants power a litre+ bike gives you right now.

Ho-hum, 1st world problems eh? Maybe a good shock on the Beemer will transform my opinion..... maybe I'll get over the looks of the Guzzi Mandello and go back to an Italian.:)

Changed the rear subframe to a scrambler one too so I can fit the high level Arrow. This is why the silly loud pipe is on it as it doesn’t need a fixing, hoping it comes tomorrow as I’m sure the French will not be impressed.
