HPN R100GS on ebay

Doesn't look a kosher HPN to me at all, in fact I'm quite sure that I've seen it before somewhere or other on here :nenau Must say that I like it though

Who's the first with 7k then? :D

I would want a helluva lot more 'provenance' from HPN..........before parting with £7k

Some bits don't look like HPN to me

No sign of classic frame bracing behind rider footpegs... even as an early mod that would seem to be an important place to at least start out?!?

I love the 86hp claim :D:D:blast

FOR SALE IS THIS VERY VERY RARE BMW. Is it? Looks like a converted R100 to me.
IT IS BEST TO CALL FOR FULL DETAILS AS IT IS A VERY VERY INTERESTING STORY. Hmm wonder if it's the same one as the guy who sold it to you?
BASICALLY A PRE-PRODUCTION "GS" BASED ON A R100"RS". Not quite, it's a copy of a ISDT bike made from an R100RS iirc.
FITTED IN PERIOD WITH EVERY HPN EXTRA, Where are those then?
RE-INFORCED SUMP GUARD, I'd be interstes to see that, cos the bike in the pics dosen't have a sumpguard fitted at all.
ONE OFF WP SUSPENSION, Kind of doubt that.
EXHAUST'S, What? one off? If you call Stainless haeders fitted to steel low slung twin set, then I suppos it could be.
HIGH RATIO FINAL DRIVE, Hmm, standard fitment to the 100RS maybe.
FRAME BRACING ETC ETC. Can't see any.
EVERYTHING IS STAMPED "HPN AND NUMBERED" Got any photos to prove this?
THE BIKE NEEDS TO BE SOLD SO A VERY LOW STARTING PRICE AND RESERVE.. £6999 Wow! that's really low for a converted R100RS

Sorry I couldn't help it. I too am sure I've seen this before. The original seller was quiet genuine and made it clear that the bike was a converted RS. He looks to have done a decent job too. The sad part is that some profiteer gets hold of these things and tries to fob it off as something it plainly isn't. The guy seems to be making klaims to the bike that clearly arn't possible. such as the 'reinfoced sump guard' when the picture clearly shows the same 'standard' sump that I have on my own 'standard' 80 RT. No guard at all. :nenau Just pisses you off really :blast

I've just had a look to see what else this fella is selling. He's got quite a collection. There's even a R59/60/69 (not sure which can't see enough of it). The Avenger Tiger brings back some memories too. Now I'm not so sure he's profiteering or just misguided. :nenau

Val.

That was on ebay a few years ago. There was no mention of HPN in the original advert. Just the bloke who built it saying what he'd done.

Being a sad git I'd saved the original advert:-

"First registered as a R100RS in 1977. Modifications as follows, Husky 500 upside down forks re-valved and sprung to suit bike. White power rear shocks. Swingarm lengthend by approx four inches. R80GS subframe modified and fitted together with GS seat. Stainless downpipes and modified Harris silencers (Not too loud, just right!!). Lightened flywheel and gas flowed heads.

Bad points, clutch slips under hard throttle. Cylinder heads not converted for unleaded.

I built this bike about 15 years ago and have toured, ridden it off road on many occasions and even raced it at Silverstone!!. If my memory serves me well I won the MCC Lands end class award on it twice.

It is a go anywhere do anything on it bike. Not for the novice or faint hearted. If you do not know your bikes do not mess me about with silly questions. It also comes with pannier frames and Krauser panniers.

Please feel free to view the bike, visit www.dcbutler.co.uk for our location and contact details. (The bike is currently at my shop.)"

Excellent Rob, that's put it in context!

Worth about 1/3 of the original asking price then.................

P&M

Not overly impressed with the P&M
STD carbs etc
Mutton and lamb come to mind with both bikes , at the prices he is asking.
Are we laying odds on if any of these sell ??????

It doesn't say it's an HPN R100 GS, it says it's an "HPN" R100 GS

Do the wanky thing where you wiggle your fingers in the air to make the cynical quotation marks, and you'll be about there.

Still, there are a lot of new bikes I'd rather pass over with 7K in my pocket for this one
