Hey folks,
This has nothing at all to do with the bike.....just thought I'd get that in there

It was first registered in January this year and has about 1500 miles on her. The bike was fitted with engine bars from new.

What do you think would be the right price to sell her for. She is red and immaculate.

I've put her on ebay at £11,750 with the engine bars.....what do you think of this price ?

Cheers

Start by taking the VAT off the original price....

£5000, I can't say fairer than that & I'll take a chance on a duff clutch & gear change

It's worth a gamble

Sell it for the price you're happy to sell it for.:thumb How much are dealers selling them for, and with what options? How much are similar age/ mileage bikes on eBay/ Bike Trader/ MCN selling for?

The take the vat off the original purchase price isn't an entirely accurate calculation.:rob

I have to ask though, why are you selling a five month old bike that hasn't even been run in yet?:nenau

I have to be honest it's family related. I have three very young girls and after a couple of near misses when car drivers pulled out on me and a guy round the corner being killed this week I'm looking to take a break. That's the only reason

It's really not the bike, it's fantastic bike and when the girls are older it will be the bike I get.

Thanks for the reply

Best guide is what similar bikes are being sold for in BMW dealers and then knock off £1,500 or there abouts.

Thanks chaps, I think I'll maybe revise it to £11,499 given what people have said. I'll throw in a few extras. Cheers

thats very cheap hammy for a virtually new bike, take off the extras and put it on ebay for £11,995 you've got nothing to lose, put the extras on ebay also, ive done this with my previous 3 gs's and been more than happy with the outcome:thumby:

Hi Hammy, most people who have a 12k budget for a GS WC have a trade in, (as I had) or need a bit of finance, it's worth a chat to the dealers, but they're in the driving seat, & most don't like a buy back.. Even the best ones..!
GLWS tho.. & when I had 2 little girls I had a break from bikes, good move maybe.. Respect..!

if so , perhaps take your time and learn to ride. Eg , take her out on Saturday/Sunday mornings first and learn to ride with minimal traffic around. Slowly step up.

Selling is akin to giving up , imho.

.

Why did you buy it
Born again rider?
yep get rid, your riding style is putting you at risk, Confident? near misses mean you are not riding defensively enough - or too fast or not asserting your road position over the cars.
New rider?, get rid.
Experienced? Just remember, if you are a mature rider who has ridden for years, this is a lifestyle changing decision, whats different from previous bikes? you?, it?, will you suffer withdrawal symptoms, become miserable etc = why did you buy it.

Put it in the garage for a solid month, see how you feel about not riding in this time.
After this time. Make your decision based apon how you feel.

Me I'd park it and see how i feel after some time off.
(ive been riding 30 odd years and was faced with similar decisions - with kids growing and had the pleasure of their first experiences on the bike.
Plus their subsequent alone with dad 'being grown up' with adults experience.

Actually, my missus even had huge reservations when I took them out in the landy green landing when they were toddlers.

So thats your personal decision. (me I wouldn't sell, too early anyway)

same . I would never sell up.

At least not as a knee-jerk reaction to the last car whose texting driver tried to wipe me off the road.

learn to ride . Get on those courses / lessons and work from there.

.

Ask yourself this, if you were driving a car and had several near misses would you sell it and walk / resort to public transport?
I know there is more risk involved in motorbikes but unfortunately its a bad world out there. I ride , like a lot of guys here, assuming that everyone's out to kill me and who know`s one day some numbnut might but in the meantime I get way too much pleasure from my bike and just accept the risk.

A dealer will take the Vat and then reduce by another £500 - £1000

Most likely be offered £10500

If you get £11000 from a dealer you are doing ok

Get £11500 and doing very well

These are straight drive in values

Thanks everybody for the advice. I started riding bikes since I was 16 (I'm now 42). I took a long break when my friend was killed, my dad was seriously injured and I had a bad off all in the space of 6 months (that one was my fault). My wife says I shouldn't sell the bike because she says I'm much safer on a bike then when I drive car.

I absolutely love bikes and if I'm not riding, I'm watching racing I'm reading bike mags etc. I was absolutely fearless when I had my r1 but when my two youngest girls were born everything changed. I seldom speed and and ride very defensively. It will absolutely kill me to sell my bike, but every time I look at my girls it will get easier.

I've put the bike on eBay and if she sells at this price I'll let her go. If not I'll re-evaluate

Reading that, I bet you've never had any advanced riding training

Spend £500 on 2 days 1 to 1 training and then re evaluate
