I am at only 3500 miles but the brakes feel very "spongy" a good bit of travel then bite, I prefer a firmer feel. Dial is at 1 on the lever

I can't remember if it was like this when I got it or if it has degraded a bit??

Not helped by going out on the new Ducati enduro yesterday which has fecking awesome anchors

Any thoughts?

At 17,000 mls on a 2014 brakes are still great, never been spongy.
The adjustment at the lever is only for handspan and should not affect brake performance.
If the bike is under warranty see your dealer.

6500 miles in,front brake fine but rear pedal has too much travel. Its to be addressed when it has its service next month.Take it backto your your friendly stealer and get them sorted!

After a service my rear brake has short travel and feels as hard as nails, but this feeling goes off pretty quickly, say within 1500 miles and then resorts to long travel and sponginess until the next service - the front remains pretty good between services, but is a bit variable from day to day and with temperature (I ride almost every day).

Brakes on my 2014 gsa have always been good , but on a trip to France last month , on the way down to Portsmouth , the rear brake developed a massive amount of travel . I took it into SWB at welwyn on a Saturday morning and they were excellent. Said it was a know problem , of air in the rear brake circuit. ( Bmw know of the problem , but no fix yet} and by the time I had got a cup of coffee , a tech had bled it and I was on my way !

Mine is the same, back brake pedal next to useless and front brake really soft but works. Still on original pads all round at 13500.

My back brake had a fair amount of travel and I thought that was just the way it was. First service includes a brake fluid change and the pedal has much less travel and is firmer. So must have had air in from delivery.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread.
My back brake has far too much travel. I complained at the first service, and they said there was nothing wrong. I complained at the 6k service and they said they'd fixed it. It was okay for a day or two, then reverted to how it was before.

Has anyone had this problem resolved by their dealer?

Ive bled them and there fine for a while, then back to slightly spongy, I have done this a couple of times but they work fine.

Reminds me of my Multistrada Sport Touring. That had no rear brake at all despite the Ducati 'fixes' and many dealer full system bleeds and flippin expensive brake fluid.
My 19000 mls, 13 plate LC back brake is a bit soft but it will work.

Mine used to go a bit spongy between services but since my 18,000 miles service they have every remained pretty solid, especially the back brake - there seems to be no rhyme nor reason for it.

Up to 21,000 miles now.
