Brand new 1200GS sitting in the dealers waiting to be picked up on the first of March, what do I do but go and break my wrist big time playing roller hockey today.jerkit


So that's me in a cast for the next 6 weeks or so!!

Told some buddies the good news and have been inundated with offers to pick it up and run it in........

I dont think so!!

Anyone have any idea how long it will be before I can ride? As soon as the cast is off I hope?

Two of my mates broke their wrists one had 4 different casts put on and got the last one off after 6 weeks.
Wrist very weak and sore for quite a while after that. He did go out on his road bike after about 4 weeks with cast on. But he still couldn’t use his race bike even after 8 weeks.
The other had his cast off in about four weeks; he was still sore and weak for quite a while.
Both say they still get pains in their wrists 6 months later

I have the perfect solution for you.... assuming you have the fastest combination (Red, Silver, Black ) i'll trade bikes with you, as mine is due in at the end of march (29th)..... i get one early, and you get one when you can ride it again......

Now i can't say fairer than that can i ????

Broke my wrist high siding off an RT. Back riding after 8 weeks but not pain free till a few months later.

I managed to "Smiths" fracture of my right wrist in Oct '02. It's the opposite of the normal wrist fracture - happens when hand is overflexed downwards. Had to be rebuilt with titanium meccano etc.

Bottom line...... 16 weeks of public transport hell...

From this post it would seem that there are a few weak wrists in the new 1200 group. No such problems for more experianced 'tossers'

Sports are dangerous! You should have got the bike earlier, much safer!

Is it the left or right wrist? Surely the left one doesn't need to be as good as the right one... You can do clutchless shifts to save the left wrist, but you can't do throttle-less accelerations....

Hope you get well soon, shame to not let the bike out in the open,... (this is where I'd volunteer, but I'll refrain )

yep, Roller Hockey is exercise with a hint of danger!!! and it's the right wrist.
