Hi,

I got rear-ended and my right case got knocked off. One of the plastic slots that one of the two case tabs fit into got broken off. The slot is still intact in the piece that broke off , but I can't find a glue that works to glue it back on.

I am talking about the tab above the rear turn signal for mounting the side case.

If it's ABS you can get solvent weld adhesives. If it's polypropylene (PP) nothing sticks to it. Both can be heat welded.
But rear ender driver should be paying

I've had some luck gluing ABS with

Loctite Super Glue - All Plastics

http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-Plastics-Superglue-LOCTITE-853796/dp/B00862Y1UO

You use what appears to be a marker pen on the faces of trouble plastics, then a drop of glue to join the two pieces. It is invaluable when it is needed.

Good luck with your repair if it comes to it.

In the good old days when I used to accidents on bikes with full fairings, they would often be repaired with abs welding.

For smaller jobs I wonder if this could help :D

So is it the silver bit that needs repairing, or the black bit that slips into the silver bit, which the pannier tab hooks over?

If it's the black bit I'd have thought it was a cheap bit to order :thumb2

It's the Silver. It's been off the bike for a while. I still use the cases. You have order a whole big part with the mounts for the cases on both sides.

It was a hit and run. I got thrown off the Bike onto the sidewalk and the guy screwed off. No-one got his plate number. I just can't bring myself to pay 500 dollars for a bit of plastic.

I did get the Primula Cheese Prawns glue, but the bloody Cat kept on licking it off whenever I turned my back.:D

I do know I guy who just got a 3-D printer. But it can't print a part that big.

That "Plastex" stuff is sold over here, I will see if I can get some.

Look inside the case there should be an EU recycling triangle with a material code. PP, ABS, PE, etc

A car bumper (fender) repair company might be able to help

^^^^^^^^^^

Get yourself a nice shiny replacement. that part you have just shown us is covered in epoxy glue by the looks of things, and will probably never glue right. Your bike will thank you.

Perhaps if you could drill through it and fix it with a bolt.

Let us know if you need help purchasing something like this.

I did know they were that cheap on E-bay. Thanks.:thumb2

I am new to e-bay, just signed up. I just tried buy the 59 pound one and got this:

The seller does not offer combined postage discounts The seller has disallowed combined payments and postage discounts. Please proceed to checkout to complete your purchase.

My Bike is an 05 GS, is looking just like the same part.

Pretty sure its ABS.

ABS can be repaired using this with a great STRONG result http://www.shop4glue.com/superacryl...esive-plastic-abs-perspex-grp-metal-425-p.asp

Recommended by a motohome repair shop originally for repairing ABS panels. Logistics ??? Sorry no idea :)
