What goes around comes around... Dublin to New york

Thanks for the great adventure, having just completed a short tour of Mongolia (Unfortunately by Russian camper van) I can see why you love this place, the people, the airag/vodka and the roads or lack of them.:bounce1

Have a Guinness or two and start planning another journey into the unknown.

Thank you and Take Care, :clap

Great trip and well reported on, fair play to you for having the balls to do it solo, Portarlington must seem boring after that trip, I live in Portarlington, must meet for a point :beer::beer::thumb2:thumb2:thumb2 well done, Sean

Thank you Oisin for one of the best reports I have read, I have spread the word about your book :thumb2 and the neighbours kids have followied you around on my plastic globe, amazed by the pictures and enthralled by the (abridged ;) text) It became real to them when they saw that you came past the end of their road so to speak, sowing seeds :D

Hi folks,
Got the bike home from the airport, gave it a quick clean and put it in the conservatory beside Sam Gamgee 1. I didn't want to really scrub it, I kind of like the idea that theres still some dirt on it from Far Eastern Russia and Mongolia.

Both bikes are officially retired...I'll never sell either...and they'll stay exactly where they are until the next great flood. The total overlanding miles I completed on the 3 big overland trips that I completed was as follows:

Sam Gamgee 1 (Bumble bee) : 33,000 miles = 52,800km (Toronto-NovaScotia-Alaska-Argentina)
Sam Gamgee 2 (Black/white) : 43,000miles = 68,000km (Calgary-Argentina-Dublin-Magadan-New York)

Have a check back here in a week or so, will be post lots of videos now that I'm back home and have some decent internet bandwidth and a more powerful computer.

Take care
Over and out

Oisin
great to hear you (and the bike) arrived back in one piece. They look great in the conservatory! Looks like there's space there for a third one some day! :D

Look forward to the extra videos etc. Congratulations on a magnificent trip.

:-)

Why? They are both only just run in... :nenau

Am sure you've got another big trip in you one day. :)

I was sure I wouldn't but I'm back two weeks and I know i'll be off again..but it'll be a few years....

Reckon I'll ship the bike to south korea by boat...then ferry up and redo the road of bones and mongolia going west and then keep going for Africa and Cape town.

Yep...pretty certain thats the way it'll run! :-)

Good man. :D

You know it makes sense. :thumb2

Oisin,
Thanks for the best Ride Report I've ever read.:bow:bow
Really enjoyed the photos, videos and humour.
Kind regards
Phil

Awesome !

spectacular mate, truly.

I'm kinda sad the story is over now tbh, been enjoying it as my downtime read here at work for the past week or so.

I found it all round very inspirational - I sidegraded my R1 of 6 years (70k km) last week for a 2010 GSA - you've really helped me realise why I made that call.

The humour, etc made it a real pleasure as did the fantastic selection of pics.

I'd love to hear the bits that didn't make it into the sanitised version...

Thanks for sharing !

Thought you might get a laugh from this...
