Got any suggestions for a GPS setup for a 1200GS, I've never used any GPS products before, so would need advice on operation ie is it best to use a system with screen prompts, or do they have an ear piece ( I use a schuberth C2 helmet)
Security?
Mounts (above or below clocks)?
Extra power socket location or hardwire?

I need a cost effective set up that would cover Europe & Eire
I don't mind spending the money if i am going to use all the features available, I just can't stand buying something with all the whistles and bells then not using anything other than the simple set up.
Any suggestions regarding GPS appreciated!

See ya soon!

Shep. Have a look at this
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25313 I think it will cover most of what you want to know - it certainly helped me make up my mind. ;)

I was in a similar situation a few months ago, but in the end opted for a Garmin Street Pilot 3 (SP3). I haven't totally got the knack of it yet, but it seems to be capable of doing everything I will need. Just as a guide, the GPS cost me approx £400 from Aspids, the Migsel mount cost £50, Ram add ons approx £20, and the audio connection to plug in my helmet £20 from the NEC earlier this week.

As a guide for you, we tested the system for the first time in anger this weekend - relying 100% on the GPS, and set a route from South West Wales to the hotel in Broad St, Birmingham and another route back (with a few additional waypoints included just to give it a bloody good test) & it worked a treat. I have not used mine in Ireland, but apparently the coverage is shite - I don't know why and dont know if they intend sorting it.

Until you've done your homework, I would not be tempted to buy from e-bay, at least until you know the cost of a new one. I have seen 2nd hand units sell on e-bay for £150 more than the cost of a brand new one. Dont rush - there are loads on e-bay and they appear on this site pretty frequently. There are far more expensive units than the one I bought, but the SP3 so far at least is certainly good enough for what I need it for.

GPS

Hello

I've just put a post in bargains about one, don't know what its like but seemed good value for money, and possibly one to checkout, think i will have a look myself, but they seem to go quickly if there any good.

Cheers Paul

another thing, make sure your vendor has the stock, there seems to be a bottleneck on garmin gps's at the moment

Thanks for your response to this, the thread lead above answered alot of questions for me

Thanks again
