What GS??

Am thinking of buying into the gs experience the question is,,
On a limited budget (say £4.5k approx) R850. R1100 or R1150, the bike will be used for this winter as everyday transport, then next summer as euro tour bus.

I think it really depends on the bike itself rather than the model, although as an 1100GS owner I've got to say that they are the better made and faster model!!

The 850 & 1100 are similar as you'd expect. Not much difference in 'oomph' due to diffferent gearing. The 1150 generally has a 6th gear, better for sustained motorway cruising, and is generally just a bit more refined, apparently.

Basically you'll be very unlikely to be disappointed with either model. At the price range you are looking at I would say you should be in range for a decent 1100.

£4.5k will get you a non ABS 1150 soon, prices have dropped a little since the intro of the 1200.

they are all good get the one in the colour you like most, unless its monkey piss yellow.

I was looking at prices the other day and it seems to me the the 1100 is quite expensive in the sense that you can get an 1150 for the same or less in some cases. Of course this is probably due to the fact that the 1100 is clearly a superior model.
