on my 1150GS ADV I am running a Y pipe and a remus but for my RTW I want to get a full size pannier on the left side so I may put back a catalytic converter . What will happen if the gas in Africa or SE Asia are really bad, do I risk anything mechanically.

I don't think you will will risk anything mechanically, but any fuel with lead in it will kill the cat in short order and potentially start to clog it up.

I don't know ...

... about Asia, but leaded fuel is hard to find in Africa, at least the bit I've been to :nenau

Low octane tractor juice full of shite on the other hand is plentiful :augie

Don't do it! The cat weighs a ton and you don't need a bigger pannier. You'll only end up carrying more stuff that you won't use. :thumb

I got a local stainless steel exhaust fabricator to bend a piece of pipe and make a bracket so that the can sits almost horizontal. I now have the full size system case from the RT on the left side for touring or move the can back up to the origonal position for day to day use. I can switch between the two different setups in about ten minutes.

Good luck for you RTW trip
