What happens to all those panniers and Nav kits?

Been looking at nearly new GSs on dealer web sites

None of the bikes are listed with Panniers or GPSs and I would guess that many BMWs are bought with these extras. Do the dealers have a great big pile of stuff hidden away in the rear stock room which could very easily be thrown in to sweeten the deal? I'm looking to buy without any trade in so thinking about possible discounts as there seem to be a lot of GSs about.

I tried to buy a set of vario panniers on the cheap from my local dealer to fit my lc,he tells me that if the p/x bike comes in with panniers etc it will be sold with panniers etc as that will have been taken into concideration when the bike was taken in.

If I buy any accessories for a bike I remove them when trading and sell on Ebay if they don't fir on the new bike. The sale helps fund the purchase of accessories for the new bike. However, as someone else pointed out, sat nav and luggage are more than likely switched onto a new bike

When i p/x a bike I fit all the standard stuff it came with back on as you can often re-use or sell them on line. I buy a lot of stuff on here.

Bollocks they will give you the same pittance in part ex if the panniers etc are fitted or not . If its anything like car main dealers they will strip out things like manufacturers mats/seat covers and roof bars and sell them on e bay and sell you a new set

Indeed, removing stuff from a bike rarely affects the part-ex price offered and can earn you a few hundred quid if you have the original item to put back on.

My old bike is sat in Alan Jefferies, YH14 DNV , GS TE in thunder grey with vario panniers. It's mint condition wise, £11250 (not much more than I got in px) but i suspect a bit of a deal can be done. Half tempted to buy it back, it even has PR4 tyres fitted.

I was told the same regarding bikes part exchanged with panniers. They won't even swap them from one used bike to another if you wanted a particular bike that didn't have panniers.

Got an S1000XR on order just for a change. I was in there Saturday to pay balance on new bike and it's still available, honestly it is like new inc areas like the headstock etc. so well worth going for if the price is right.

I got a PX price on my GS, then to barter, i said OK but I keep my Vario's. I then sold them for about £350 i think. Kept my NavV for my new GSA !
