The Brummy Paramedics have what looks like a custon ear plug with a boom mike coming off it, and then wired down the necks of their jackets.

Anyone know what the setup is they are using? As I have a number of helmets I love the idea of a headset that is fixed to me rather to the helmets.:thumb2

Nice one sss.

All I've got to do now is work out if I can find a way of connecting it up to an Autocom!

We have them. They are only wired into 1 ear. Music would only be mono. You will need PTT as no vox. Pretty sure sonic have kits to fit into autocom as that's what North Wales Police driving school use.
Custom moulded bit is detachable from the unit for easy cleaning with no brittle wires to break inside the earpiece

I think I've decided to give up up on VOX anyway - it's given us so much hassle so I was on the way to going PTT anyway. The pdf on Sonic's website seems to suggest you can get a headset with cord to both ears but I'm not that fused about the stereo thing. It would be nice, but if this headset gives me the solution I'm looking for I can live without.

Hi Andy, Its a shame your giving up the VOX  It can work very well! Whats not working for you?

Regards

Mick:)

that's odd... i like my VOX

i gave up on PTT years ago!

funny innit? :D

Have you seen Intaride's Integra headsets?

Eyewitness; No - hadn't spotted these. Thanks for pointing them out.

Motorbike Adventures; My mate and I have been messing about with our bike to bike systems for literally years and just can't get the bu@@ers to talk to each other properly. We've progressively thrown more and more money at it to no avail. We've both got identical systems - Active Pro 3's with Kenwood TK3201's. When it's at its best, I get about every other word my pal says. The most recent challenge is that when I am listening to music on my ZUmo 550 he can hear it too. How does that work?!

Wow you have been giving it a right old go! Have you tried PTT switch on the handle bars? Not sure about the music transmit must be a internal problem!

Had a chat with Paramedic 'Flymo' today. Caught him on his break at his favorite watering-hole in Birmingham - McDonalds on Cherry Street.

As previously commented they are using Sonic's Genisis headsets. He says they've been really pleased with them and the best system they've used to date. In three years he reckons he's needed 2 headsets because the wire going into the earplug breaks. Given the amount of times they take their helmets on and off in a day I guess this could transpose into many more years of use for the domestic biker.

He made some other interesting remarks about helmets too. They've changed from Multitec's to Schuberth C3's. He reckons a significant improvement over the Multitec mainly down to the smaller shell size and reduced noise. Not my experience with a C2 v Multitec. I thought the Multitec was altogether better and quieter, but always interested in canvassing the opinions of others - especially those who have to live in their helmets day in and day out!

Also spoken to Sonic this afternoon.

For a Genesis 2 headset they want a cool £176.00, plus £84.00 for the custom-made earplugs:eek:

Intaride looks a bit of a bargain!

I've had dealings with Sonic over the past 25yrs & things never change there - they always treat customers shabbily unless you're spending thousands on a contract with them.
