Hi all, just interested in what tyres your 1150s are wearing....

Also besides the original BMW kits what is a good luggage system.

Thanks in advance,
Jason in Germany...:beer::beer::beer:

Currently on Conti Trail Attacks. previously on Bridgestone 020, no complaints about either, but the contis were a bit cheaper.
I use the standard BMW luggage sysytem, including tank bag, seems to be holding up well, just enough space for two up trips over two weeks, could do with a bit more space really.

cheers, fatal

I don't go off road so continental road attacks are brilliant plus panniers from Vern are the cahonnes !

Had BT020's then BT010's & now BT014's & all have been excellent tyres. Stable & consistent in the way they roll into a turn. Longevity isn't an issue for me as I don't commute on them any more. Grip & confidence are the only things I'm interested in & they all gave me plenty of both. Looking to try some Michelin Pilot Sport 2CT's next. (BTW, my bike's on alloys & 120/180 tyres)

I'm still on the OEM luggage & have never felt the need to change them. They get supplemented with a Baglux tank harness & bag plus a large roll bag for the back seat. If I need to take any more stuff with me, it'll go by van.

HTH,

2 sets of Metzeler Tourances lasted 50,000 km! Now the HK agent for Metzeler is out of business and I replaced with Pirelli Scorpion MT-90s. Seem great - today HK is affected by a Severe Tropical Storm (typhoon) and wild and wet weather - biked in and the tyres were faultless!

BMW standard luggage.

0 - 13.000 Km - Bridgestone Trailwing :(
13.000 - 70.000 Km - Metzeler Tourance :thumb2
70.000 - 86.000 Km - Bridgestone Battle Wing :thumb2

Changed from Tourance to Bridgestone because my tire dealer had no Tourance in stock at that moment. Have not yet regret the change. Haven't tried the new Tourance EXP though.

Keeping it on the road

Every penny I can earn!!

Had Tourance on it when I got it - so replaced with the same and got nearly 14,000 miles out of the pair. The front was more buggered than the back, due to the temptation of hurtling up to roundabouts on dual carriageways and braking at the very last before tipping in. The tyres would last a lot longer if I could temper my riding:augie as would fuel consumption.

Replaced with Tourance again and have no reason to doubt them - simil;ar mileage coming up towards a new set of tyres. I am also willing to listen to what others say....the Tourance are crap for off road though, forest tracks they are OK, but then so are road tyres - I did a feature for Classic Bike Guide a few years ago and we took a 1938 BSA Empire through the woods of the Wye valley and Forest of Dean on some old "roads" which were no more than mud tracks and footpaths. i haven't a clue where we were because we were being led...road tyres worked fine, but we did have to push the old girl in one or two places!

Somehting which lasts on the tarmac is never going ot give much grip ff road. I could do with something for going to the wilds of Scotland....but i expect it will be the magic metzelers again and I will just put up with the greased weasel effect on wet grass

Exactly the same for me - had to make up a bracket to make RT l/h pannier fit but work really well. :)

On my third rear and original front pair of Avon Distanza's with a set of Hepco and Becker boxes. No reason to change my choice of either yet :thumb2
