What kit for south of Spain in October

31c again here today. After the hottest summer on record sumats got to give sooner rather than later but the forecast is more of the same. :thumb2

Two years ago a group of us ran into snow on the road on the mid to upper reaches of the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. Had to detour up the Med coast and over to Toulouse. The weather in France on the way up was bitterly cold until about lunch time, I saw -2 on the instrument panel.
Great roads in Spain heading that way first week oh November:beerjug:

Currently? Here in Andalucia, Flippers, Mask, Aqualung :thumb

I organise Tossers-in-the-Tejeda - a week of Andalucian trail riding in October each year because it's too hot to ride in the summer. Check the previous ride reports and look at what people are wearing.

Expect the ambient temps to be mid-20's with no or very little rain.

Greg

Sound advice on average, I'm sure, but might there be some egg on the face at Masters Towers?

Freak weather down there at the moment - let's hope it all passes before too long.

Nah - just enough rain to keep the dust down!

(Not ignoring for a minute that people have lost their lives and homes etc. But certainly very unusual this early in the year.)

Came back from Murcia Region (Lorca/Totana area)on Saturday morning,
Glad we had a hire car, drove it like a tractor through the mud and boulder,s to get out,Ford focus with 9000kms on the clock, now with a dented underfloor, hire companys dont look underneath!!!!!!!

I'd recommend a heated vest. switched on it will get you through the cold uk, it is warm enough switched off for the mountains and high plains. packs small when not needed.
I've just returned, it was 30 deg C not relevant to your trip I know.

Well, as I had to cancel my trip because I was sick, I was originally very pissed off...

Having seen the weather this past week, I'm not that annoyed anymore..

Not riding in the rain is very overrated.. if you've got the right kit, it just becomes a completely different riding experience.. but no less enjoyable.
I always treat it as "man against nature" and, if you survive (which you will, unless you're totally incompetent), you'll have a really good evening in the bar of "Did you see me ride through that 3' deep river across the road?" and "I was just looking at the GPS, I couldn't see the road at all" type stories :D

Still getting 27c in the day and its sunny throughout. Had a blip last week ( Friday morn ) but then thats the norm for this time of year. :thumb2

Currently down near Almeria, getting high twenties to low thirties during the day, and refreshingly cool at night. Just returned from a ride along ALP118 coast road, astonished at the amount of debris washed up on the beaches from the recent floodwaters. JCB's busy clearing up piles of undergrowth and, in some places, whole trees !
