Always quote them exactly 1 tenth of the maximum mileage you will cover .
For example ; if you normally cover between 10,000 - 12,000 miles then state 1,200 miles for insurance purposes. If it ever becomes an issue then just point out that they have missed a zero off the figure that you will have stated. Give them evidence that you regularly cover over 10k miles so why would you in your right mind say 1,200 miles , I mean it’s a pretty odd figure right ?![]()
This will be recorded on your policy… which also tells you to check the details….. clever eh!
I know it wasn’t obvious but I was just joshing......it was a pretty daft question so I though a daft answer would be more appropriate![]()
it also doesnt tell them how many miles you have done. just the bike![]()
I just insured by Be Moto and I put down 5k.
It’s unlikely I’ll do more but if I do I just need to phone them up.
I did ask the guy if it made much difference and surprisingly it does. If I’d put down 8k it would be 40 quid more.
The mileage increase is possibly only £8. the £32 is the undeclared hidden admin cost.
Admin costs can be hidden in many ways. Typically it can be done in rebates. IE any additional add ons throughout compiled together within a financial year could be 500k in charges to the consumer. The insurance company can then claim a % of rebate labelled as something else except admin. Happens with suppliers more than you realise.
Cars are a classic example and other items with 0% finance. Manufacturers give the dealer a bung - effectively a rebate based on volume of sales
There is no free lunch - costs whatever they are have to be paid for, either as you go or upfront.
