Had a search and was surprised this hadnt sprung up maybe the way i searched but typed in tyre mileage.

Anyway, had a 2011 R1200GS and the front tourance got 11500miles, the rear only got 4K then the replacement PR4 trail rear was starting to look squared off around 4K again.

On the new bike a 2012 R1200GSA i am just about to swap the rear tourance for another after 4600miles, so wanted to ask what miles you lot are getting??

My miles are mostly hooting around Scottish roads and a 50% of time is two up.

Interested to find out...

Oh and sorry if its been asked, i did look....

Anything from 2500 to 12000 miles depending on how much you're prepared to tolerate the odd handling a worn tyre will give you. Money no object I'd be changing mine at around 4 1/2k miles as that's when I notice the handling starting to go 'off'. But money is an issue so my current PR4's are on 8k miles, most of my riding is commuting and I fully intend to get at least another 2k before I bin em

2005 1200 Gs - just about 10k on a pair of Conti trail attack 2's.
Both worn equally they went 'Off' at about 8k

Current PR4 (rear) has approx 7000kms on it and is being changed on Saturday, I would consider it not safe to put much more on it.

2005 1200GS 52000 miles. I've used Bridgestone Battlewings since new - generally get 8500/9000 miles from a pair before the handling goes off. I'm at 9500 on my set at the moment and on the wear indicator on the rear. These got well chewed with 2500 miles around the Highlands earlier this year - bloody abrasive surfaces! Only solo usage.

Tourance next 8500miles on my last rear and that was a mil off the wear indicator when it was chanced
Can't rate the enough would like a pr of tkc 80's for winter but not sure how good they are in the wet of winter

Flippen heck, im rubbish, my rear is worn right down to the wear indicator on the middle, its maybe the tarmac as suggested up here it is abrasive.

Going to swap it out anyways, got another Tourance for £75 delivered so not bad at all.

My last pair of Trail Attacks got through without a puncture, !3,970 and still had a bit left! Bought 3 pairs at £132 a pair, just fitted the last pair.

So far I've had Battlewings, Conti Trails, Roadsmarts, PR3's and now PR4's. Most I've ever had on a rear was 5.5K (Battlewings) and least 4.5K (PR3's). However, I tend to replace them when they square off rather than lost all the tread so legally could get another 1K on them probably. Mileage got worse after the Hilltop remap on the PR3's! Always get 2:1 ratios rear/front.

I got about 11K from a Maxxis Detour front. It outlived a Detour rear and a SuperMax. Both rears kept a rounded profile but the SuperMax was totally shagged when replaced.
Detours are nothing special but lasted quite well. For handling, the Conti TKC-70 is in another league. Tread mileage remains to be seen.

5,200 miles in Europe and 2,000 miles in the UK out of my front, who says road camber has no effect on tyre wear?

I have always worn my front tyres more on the right than the left, but usually get a few more miles from the fronts.

The TKC-70s had their first long motorways run yesterday >200 miles each way to London and back. At private road speeds they are not as accurate tracking is more road biased treads. Its not alarming and there is no tendency to track road surface lines but its not as rock steady as eg the Tourance.

For me its still a good trade off as I have such gravelly and narrow roads to deal with at home.

Current bike I got 6,000 out of the original Tourance EXP's but they were well knackered by the time I changed. Current set are Tourance Next, also at around 6,000 miles. The front is well worn, with a bit of cracking around the blocks as well as scalloping and the rear still has plenty of tread but is starting to square off a bit. I ignore the flightiness as it goes over the square edge because it still handles brilliantly at greater lean angles:)

I should really put my hand in my pocket and shell out for new rubber, the question is which ones?

1200GSA
Trail Attacks
tend to change the pair at 6 to 7K
Rear usually very squared off by then with a modest ,2mm, amount of tread left.

I fully expect my bike to have covered 20,000 plus miles on a set of tyres.

Don't ask how. :blast

never enough!!!

I dont want much, stick like racing slicks on dry track in all weathers on the road, off road/trail work like a full on motocross tyre, and a minimum of 25,000 mile to a set. How hard can it be?
Oh and under £100 a pair fitted

Worst than that Al, much much worse. It involves a tree.
