What oil - Gearbox & Final Drive

Can't believe I'm writing a 'What oil' post...............

For my '05 1200 I've always used a straight SAE 90 (API GL5) or 75/90 (such as what used to be Castrol SAF-XO) in the gearbox and 75/140 (such as what used to be Castrol SAF-XJ) in the final drive.

Can I use just one of the oils for both the FD unit and the gear box, i.e. just straight 90 or 75/90 or 75/140

I've been using BP 80/90 API GL5 semisynthetic hypoid gear oil in both FD and gearbox on my 05 1200 for the last 6 years with no problems. I would say that any 75/90 or 80/90 API GL5 would be quite adequate to use in both.
