What product to use on my Ali Panniers

Hi All,

Ihave no wish to re-open the ongoing debate about Touratech Ali Panniers (BMW GSA ones) as we all know they corrode in the wet and salt...

I would however like to know what product people would use to buff them up!

I use mine alot and I commute to and from work everyday, so there is no way they will stay prestine! but I would like to give them a bit of TLC in the spring!

I don't know what you should use as I have Zega panniers but on an 1100 and they might be completely different

















But just in case they are not then Autosol Solvol metal polish to clean them up then coat in ACF50 to prevent the salt ingression.

Check out POG's black system pannier thread. Seems a fiddle but I'll bet its quicker in the long run than the whole Autosol/Elbow Grease Vs panniers looking like they have been bought in a car boot for 50p.

NXT All Metal Polysh

No that's not a spelling typo. It is called polysh. It cleans and PROTECTS the alloy stopping the salt getting to your panniers.

look under autocare then glass and metal.

It's not very abbrasive so will not 'mirror' polish them. More like a protective wax that will shift minor defects. I use a green scotchbrite pad to shift any corrosion, if you use it in straight lines it will even put the lines back on as per the original surface texture.

I have BMW Vario Cases, and use 'Nevr-Dull' on them, as well as on the alu side panels (R12GS december 2007). Works a treat, without leaving scratch marks.

I spray mine with FS365 to protect them and polish them with Autosol. Latter can be hard work but brings them up a treat.
