Hi All

I cant seem to find a definitive answer to this? So what revs do you sync your TBs at?

Many thanks.

Me on the whole rpm range - from idle to 6K. And still, they go asymmetric after you set them in sync engine freely running on neutral gear compared while you "load-drive" the bike around - i can feel it. So ideal would be if you sync them while on driving :D

Absolutely !!

20 years ago a custom bike builder called 'Uncle Bunt ' ( aka John Reed ) built a 4 cyl bike that had 4 small vac guages on the top yoke ( or fairing ? )

it should be a piece of piss to do with just 2.

Yup - much more accurate result is obtained when you can put the engine under load. Get it into 3rd or 4th gear and check through 1500 - 5000rpm. Makes a big difference. Once you have set them this way, next time is much easier. Simple vacuum gauges bungeed to the crossbar are much easier to see on the move than a Twinmax. :)

So what do you do, stop and make an adjustment then recheck and repeat as neccessary etc?

From the "R1100GS/R1150GS Maintenance Manual" http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/index.shtml the author recalls that BMW Guru Paul Glaves point out that the high speed adjustment will be more accurate just off iidle 1200 - 1400 rpm, because any difference between the throttle plates will be a higher percentage difference in the airflow and vacuum.
