Hi all,
I`m looking to change my current GS to either a standard 1150 or adventure but as we have only one BMW dealer here I`m checking to make sure his tradein price is about right, or alternatively, what do you think it`s worth privately? It shocked me when Iheard the figure to change.
1999 R1100 GS, ABS, 27000miles,FBMWSH, Marakesh red. Genuine bike never dropped, good allround condition (could say mint but that would be a lie). I would say it`s in the best condition possible for a four year old gs. And some of the guys here would tell you the 1100 is better than an 1150!
If anyones interested I`ll even deliver it for you!
TIA Barry

Bakerman,
Oh all right £20 plus your bike if you leave all the nice bits on it.
But seriously anyone any thoughts of a decent value?

Barry, the dealer in question simply thinks of a number. I looked at a ratty 1150 in there on Saturday, 2000 model with ABS, no other toys, wanted £6750. Take it or leave it, no haggling. Same bike on CW website today plus panniers and heated grips for £6100.

Did you try Extreme in N'ards? Notice he had some new GS's in at Xmas. Never dealt with the guy, might be worth a ring though

Would it be worth your while to look over the border ??

Not unless you were then going to go to Germany ! A new GS in the free state (lol) costs 16,000 euro. A used model will cost a little less.

gs from the south.

Jimb & Luke,
The gs should still be cheaper exporting from the south due to uk vat be less and the south extra vehicle tax but the dealer I had spoken to, M******`S, were then inflating the price so there was only a small saving.

Hey Luke what happend with the ADV ?

Still going to buy one. The blue and white one ended up with no ABS so is still for sale. I will look at mobile.de again tonight.

Barry,
The said Mr M****** is not very popular here..surprise surprise. Try Grattan Motors +353-1-6785511. Let me know how you get on.

Irish dealers

Luke,

I had to do a double take re your comments about a certain Irish dealership. At an initial glance, I misread who ( I think) you were talking about. Funny isn't it that the name of the one that I (and I think you) rate highly shares the same first and last letter as the other one! And its only Monday!

Good luck with the Adventure. Still got to hook up for a Sunday morning spin one of these days.

Cheers

John
