What should I expect to pay for a r1150gs

Decided to bite the bullet and spend some cash and get one of these. Finally after wanting one since the 1100gs came out...

So what should I expect to spend for a good one, and what should I look out for. And yes I will subscribe to check out the for sale section if I get some feedback. I am not to bothered about age more condition and service history.

Any ideas let me know. If you are selling one get in touch.

1150 GSA £4-£6.5k....belive it or not

I reckon you could get a good 1150 for around 3.7-4k.... i'd go for 2002 single spark non servo with or without ABS your choice...... oh and watch out for flaky engine paint, although they all do that sir.... Hammerite Silver is a close match.

System luggage (plastic) second hand around £170 Ally luggage second hand around £400

pay the £12.00 ..... it's worth every penny, you will also find that the inmates will be a lot more helpfull if you are a subscriber!!!

I ended up with both an 1100 and an 1150 GSA... if I had to sell one it would be the 1150 GSA... love it but I find it too big to offroad with and the 1100 just feels more manageable in the mud. I prefer the gearing of the 1100 too as around town and putting along the 5 speed seem perfect.

if your going to do lots of motorways the 1150 has 6 gears and better suited.
i have had both 1100 and 1150.

what do you want from the bike?

tour? find one with standard panniers, they will do you just great
tour 2 up camping? need ally panniers and either topbox or rack
tour hotels? standard panniers do you and look smart
bit of scratching? road biased tyres it is then
offroad? tourance or similar
day to day commuting with above? not a gsa, maybe too heavy
motorway work? 6th gear is a plus, get a few mpg over 1100, and not as revvy

here is a little help make you decide.
all the farkle bits like seats, lights, shocks etc etc can come later, dont waste your money on exhausts, they dont do feck all, and make it hard going on any long journeys.

+1 for the exhaust comment. having an 1150 and an 1150 Adv, the adv is on standard pipe, heavier but it is stainless and still as good as new. The 1150 has an alloy Remus....lighter, going a bit furry already, but not rotting - the noise in your head at the other end is quite remarkably different!
Same helmet, same ears, same screen setting....so it must be the zorst. Keeps the neighbours awake too.

I have an 11 and am stickin' with it (through thick and thin etc...).

The 1150's are a bit smoother and slightly quicker but build started to suffer a touch. Early 1150's are simple to look after and don't have the servo ABS.

Keep an eye on the "bikes for sale" section and there are very regular 1150's and 11's that seem excellent bikes; clean and full of extras. Bide your time and great private sales will be no prob to come by.

ABS, heated grips, panniers are the best additions. Bigger screens, top boxes, blingy bits are all bonuses.

Gearbox rebuilds on early bikes and new clutches if the mileage is higher are very good "history" additions. If you do your own work they are easy bikes to work on and this forum is a very good source of info.

Thanks for all the reply's Have seen a couple of candidates in the for sale section...until I saw the locations. Having two kids running around doesn't leave me with time to pop over to derwentside and to by this one :
