What should I have in my on-bike tool kit?

thats good - although for a lot less than £110 i could replicate the kit - but at least it contributes to the original posters question.

True, although it does give you the E8 and E10 torx spanner/socket and the front wheel removal tool which I am sure will come in handy one day :)

I got a front wheel removal tool for £6.95p (inc postage) off of ebay and the a full set of torx sockets - including and up to the T50 for the wheels - also off of ebay - for well under £20.

Nothing wrong in getting good tools at a bargain. Cheap tools cheap that's a different thing. You can do more damage with tools made from adonised cheese than leaving well alone. Jjh

Anything you put in Marc's toolbox will rattle every time you go over a bump so allow for some padding as well!:thumb2

Carry an umbrella. You always seem to break down in the rain.

And when you've finished using all those manly tools - don't forget to take something to clean up with :thumb

You'll never have the tools you need so just carry a breakdown card and mobile phone.

But a set of torx keys and some zip ties will get you home.

People take far too much and unless you know what to do with the tool, there is no point taking it.

On my big trips, I use the standard tool kit and take a few extra bits and pieces for taking wheels off, side cutters etc but to be honest, if you can't get at whatever is wrong with it with basic tools you are fucked anyway. Quite why people take things like GS911's etc on a trip to Tesco's is beyond me.

Puncture kit, pump, cable ties and duct tape and bobs your uncle.

But Bob (or Ted) is right. All you need are tools the average mechanic won't have. Torx bits/keys, front wheel spindle key and oil filler key. Plus Bob's/ Ted's list.
