Planning on taking the exhaust headers off my 2018 1200 gsa but non of my sockets seem to fit.
Could somebody tell me what socket type and size I'll need.
They dont look to have any corrosion but any precautions worth taking to avoid snapping ? I was thinking of soaking in penetrative fluid overnight, is that a sensible approach.
Many thanks

Looks like you need a 12 point 10mm socket.

The photo suggests that the socket should be reasonably thin walled, too, as there is not much clearance between the nut and the header. A straight, rather than shouldered socket might help, too.

Many thanks, not come across these before and set is on its way.
They were what everyone had for sockets until you could afford to start the Snap on / Mac Tools payment scheme

Bi Hex / 12 point same thing

Hard to say with no scale but that may be larger than 10 mm

usually they were 12 or 13 mm for an M8 thread

And Paul is right I believe you will need a deep socket with no shoulder to get onto them

Thanks for that. I've ordered a set arriving today 8 - 32mm but I never thought about depth.
I'll have to do quick test fit and if a no go I'll maybe have to see about ordering a specific deep socket.....
Now I know why I'm not a mechanic..... lol

Thanks for the help all. Sorted now, the 13mm fits, managed to get one side with an extension and the short side just did the job with a normal 1/2 inch drive end.
A squirt of wd specialist penetrant and off they came..... all between 18nm and 22nm from what I could see.
Just wanted to crack them open to make sure not seized and snapping, so that's a relief.
Whole point is I'm thinking of a full akro, got the can and decided I'm keeping the bike rather than lob a shed load at a new 1300.
