I recntly putchased a Sony Handycam, nice piece of kit. But am new to camcorders, so what would you recommend for editing VOB files, have been looking at Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 Supersonic, has anybody used it or would you recommend something better.

I've got Roxio 7.5 and it's OK. In fact, it has a load of features that I'll probably never use like sound editors, picture editors, etc.

I prefer Ulead ViseoStudio 9 which you can download and have on free trial for 30 days (fully functional). The main reason for my preference is that Ulead can handle widescreen from my Handycam.

Hope this helps.

Quick question: why do you want to edit VOB files? These are the files that end up on a DVD (they're actually mpeg2 files). The camera will give you big AVI files until you re-author them.

The Sony Handycam writes direct to a DVD disc and the files are stored as VOB, I tried saving them as MPEG and they work fine, but DVD player won't play MPEG, tried editing them as MPEG then saved them back as VOB but that didn't work, so decided to purchase a decent bit of software.
