From what I understand, you pay bmw for additional modes when you order a bike, but its generally just a software difference in reality.
A few years back when I was looking for a nearly new 1250 Adv, one dealer had a nice bike in stock but it lacked the full rider options. When I explained I wanted those they said that was not a problem. They could be turned on with a software update.
The R12 G/S I recently bought came without the enduro pack.
Not an issue as I didn't want the knobblies as it will be 95% used on surfaced roads.
I have no doubt bmw can add the software to switch on the 4th riding mode called enduro which I gather turns off completely the rear abs and gives reduced traction control.
As I won't be fitting knobblies and therefore won't be riding in mud etc it's not a function I'd be happy to pay out bmw prices for.
However, if riding loose dry surfaces / steep hills I can see it could be useful although turning off traction altogether probably does the job.
So any boffins know how to get the extra rider mode active without bmw performing this?
