I was out on the bike last weekend ( 1100gs 95 ) and all was well with the world, took its cover off today and turned the key and noticed smoke coming up from the handlebar area . Switched off and some of the the wiring from the right hand switchgear has melted and also also to the dipped beam headlight . What the feck could have caused this ? Not had a problem with the lights and the ignition wiring was replaced recently with a new unit .
Any ideas please :(

Have you or anyone put a 100+ watt bulb in the headlight?.
1100`s need a relay to handle the extra power or it will burn out your light swith in time!?.

Heated grips give all sorts of burning problems - they aren't fused  so usually ends in a drama somewhere in the wiring.

Just had a quick look and it seems that the yellow/white wire to both handlebar switches are fried (and took out a couple of others with it )
All correct fuses (not blown)and relays fitted to migsel setup

Further delving the brown and the yellow wires in the main loom have melted as well:(
