My wife got her first bike this week, an F650 '97 22,000kilometres €1700.00. I have to add we are in Italy. :augie

But i will be interested in comments to your post as to what to look out for. I dont particurlarly like browsing the F650 site, not as user friendly as this one.:thumb

Good luck with the bike.:thumb

Just a thought...but it could be worth posting a question in the actual 650 section of this forum......:nenau

I'm the proud owner of a 650GS, but also of a totally non-technical brain, I'm afraid, so Rollinsdan checked over my purchase - he seemed to know what he was looking for.....

Brassmonkey001 is a mod on f650.co.uk - could also be worth asking him.

Could also all be too late I suppose - you're probably out there picking out a bike as I type :nenau

Whatever you get - enjoy :thumb2

Also try www.f650.com

This list will probably get a bit longer... but stuff to check:
Fork seals leaking. Easy to change, but takes a bit of time.
Speedo cable corrosion. They break easily 5 minute to replace.
These are water cooled, so water pump can fail..
Bar ends rust when paint comes off them (bit of hammerite)

Again, have a look here: http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/

Welcome to the site...
