I've been to see a pretty tidy '02 1150 GSA with 32k on it and BMW service history up until 5000 miles ago. I thought it looked pretty good, so I've put a deposit down and I'm hoping to collect it later this week. The (non BMW) dealership is going to give it a service before I collect it. I was wondering if there are any potential pitfalls that I should look out for when I go to collect it.

Ta in advance. Pete

make sure it has two wheels and an engine. a big metal stick across the top (also known as handlebars) are quite a handy (but not obligatory) option.

Seriously, there was a thread a while back about 2002 v. 2003 GSAs so it would be worth looking through that to make sure you're getting what you think you're getting. Also worth checking the corrosion, surging, engine noises and accessories that the previous owner put on it...

A seat is also very useful for touring.

32 K is barely run in. Have a look at the battery (or see if the dealer will throw in a new one). If it is the original it is probably getting close to time and may give you an ABS test fail at startup (plenty of threads here). Check the left side of the engine and up around the pivot of the telelever for yellow stains indicating a fuel leak. Most should have been fixed by now but it sometimes happens. If it has the original plastic fuel line quick connects see if they will replace them with proper metal ones. A little bit of surface corrosion is not a problem - hammerlite smooth is your friend here.

Other than that - enjoy. :thumb2
