A friend and I are renting two 2011 model G650GS bikes in Marrakech and I want to make sure that between us we take all the tools needed. The bikes have tubeless tyres so will have
- 'Stop & Go' tyre plugger plus a compact electric air compressor
- 'Motion Pro' tyre lever/wrenches of 22 and 24mm
- combination spanners of 10-11-12-13-14-17mm
- socket set of 8-10-11-12-13-14mm
- torx bits of 10-15-20-25-30-40
- screwdrivers
- allen keys
- adjustable wrench

Is there anything specific I need, e.g. to remove the wheels?

Tim

Looks pretty comprehensive. Do they not supply the standard tool kit with the bike? Assuming it's the same as a F650GS, maybe a 19mm socket for the other side of the rear axle or just use your adjustable wrench if it will fit. Do tyre pluggers work with tubes? A patch kit if not or a spare front and rear tube.

Again, assuming the G is the same as the F, you'll need a BMW/ciggi lighter converter for the compressor.

Sorry, corrected to tubeless!

I could ask about the standard tool kit but don't know what's included, so I wouldn't really be much wiser.

The Airman compressor uses crocodile clips onto the battery terminals, so presumably I would have to undo some panels to expose the battery.

OK, I've added a 19mm combination spanner.

You'll need to take the tank panels off to get to the battery. They're held on with a few torx screws - 6 on the F from memory, but you also have to take the indicator panels off which is another 6. :D Not sure on the G as the bodywork is different.

You 'might' be able to run it from the charging post which is under the seat and a point on the frame.

If yer have a local to you BSS outlet " pipe and tube valves etc." pop in and cadge a lifting strop off one of the drivers they are 10ft long and have a loop at each end = made from seatbelt webbing it makes a perfect towrope or tieup for luggage etc wraps up to a lump about 2 inch by 2 by 4
Have a great trip :thumb2

If you haven't thought of it it might be an idea to get some tubes just in case you get splits which the pluggers can't deal with, can happen if you get glass in the tyres. Getting tubeless tyres off can be a pig tho'. You may want to put a DIN plug on the compressor if they've got a power socket. Alternatively the old F650GS had remote points to jump under the seat and on crank case, if the G has these that might work the other way instead of taking the panels off for the pump. Check to see if they've got centre stands or can fit them, which'll help checking chains and getting wheels off.
