What van do you use to move your off road/road bike.

I have been looking at a Peugeot Expert, however did some measuring with the ktm and my beemer last night and both bikes will be too big to fit in.

Would prefer deisel, and smaller engine as possible, as the van will be used to drive to work, as replacing a car.

Also on the list is 2 passenger seats, a pay have to pick the kids up with it.

Looking to purchase in August, budget of £1.500

Thanks for any help:beerjug:

If you can source one I used an '02 Citroen Relay 2 litre HDI which went well, had 3 seats and was light on fuel for its size, sold 2 months ago for a grand with 100k miles, as it only did 700 miles last year......now realise how useful it was:blast
Plenty head room for my GS on GSA shocks with MRA screen attached, with enough room for another lardy one next to it.

I have a Fiat Scudo,(same as Peugeot and citroen) and my 690 and 650 x challenge fit in the rear, only one at a time mind and its corner to corner. Good value and good on fuel.

I have a 2005 Boxer and a GS will fit in without removing screen or mirrors.

Transit ,LWB , Semi high roof , 350.

I had the misfortune of going to collect a Bike today on one of these .
An Absolute disaster .
Not a suitable machine for Bike transport at all.

What ever happened ?

As mentioned Waaayyyyy to high at the Back , and to top all theres a
wee lip , which the door closes into , well this wee lip wouldnt hold the
ramp , then with a guy holding the ramp in placet , the bottom part of the
fairing rubbed on the floor of the Van , which ment we had to go back to the
drawing board .
It was a disaster . Took 3 people a considerable amount of time ,both to
load and unload.

The Trannie was a RWD .

I am going to look at a Sprinter , ? ,

Renault Traffic is popular and one of the better vans out there. I just trailer my bikes to events as none of the vans listed are 4x4 and in the winter that is a great help in wet muddy farms.

+1 for a Citroen Dispatch (Scudo or Expert). Replaced my car & bike trailer with one in August & it's great.
Mine is a wheelchair conversion type with a big wide ramp at the rear making it really easy to load. I get my DR250 in but have to turn the wheel as the ramp takes up 4". The dealer let me test load the bike before buying :)
Drives like a car & mpg is 40ish.

Thanks for all the replies,

Got a small quad now, sold the road bike, totally want a van to use to move the both items around.

Must be able to stand up in it, got my eye on a few

Got a SWB Transit with low roof, MK7 with 2.2 FWD. Just returned from Portugal carrying two 690's and a DRZ in the back plus all our gear. Both 690's had the wider RR tanks plus rear racks, we had to remove rad shrouds and rear racks from the DRZ to fit it in. When empty we get about 35mpg, when full mpg drops to about 30.

Ok, never had a lot of luck with a Citroen car, so what do I need to look out for on a van, when does cam belt need changing

Looking at a relay mwb

So why didn't you just tie the ramp on? Plenty of tie down points on a van. Can't believe motorbike wouldn't have gone over a "wee lip"... What was the bike?

You could have lowered the rear of the van by driving front wheels on a kerb / bricks / wood etc...
