1200GS (55 Plate Registered Feb 06)

Dark Blue with grey side panels.

4300 miles.

Spoked Wheels; ABS; Heated Grips; Clear Lenses; SW Motech Engine Bar; MetalMule Balanced Pannier System and top rack; Scorpion Exhaust with panniers (original exhaust available). Great runner and no problems.

I'm fishing - what would be a realistic price for the bike? Parts aren't for sale and perhaps neither is the bike - but you never know.

I've just shouted down to the engine room to switch the crap deflectors on, so hoping a few decent Tosser replies are on there way.

Thanks in advance.

...and if you need a piccy...I'm hoping here's one...and what a friendly chap!

Ooooooooooooooohhhh. . ..

You need to do some weeding before that spreads. . .. .

This Worm's Up Before You Birds...

Beat you by three days...got rid of the weeds Thursday while I was waiting for my MetalMule panniers and exhaust to arrive. Now there's a neat looking set of panniers! :thumb

Don't know about yours but I was in Tillstons today in Stockton as I'm thinking of getting rid following all the probs I've had and when I mentioned that I wanted at least 7K for mine ( Apr 05 ), the guy sucked in air and said no way jose, so I walked.

Trade in at a BMW dealer, with kit, about 7k.
Private sale, about 8.5k to 9k with kit....... most peeps would be looking to save about a grand I'd rekon.

Other dealers will probably give a much better trade-in. Always have in any situation I've been told about.

And all IMHO, of course. Wouldn't want the point-scorer to come contradicting me again

Hi there

I just get mine with 3500 miles, 05/05, the same color, wheels, abs, heated grips but not bars for 8100 from a BMW dealer.

Cheers.

Thanks for this. And the moral of these stories is obviously - don't buy new! That's and expensive depreciation hit.

Value. . . . .

A more sensible response :clap :clap :clap

I Guess there are two seperate questions here -

1) What price would you be able to achieve if you where to put it up for sale. There have been increasing numbers of 1200s in the second hand market, so the price they are achieveing is dropping. Also the accessories you have may not be wanted by someone buying the bike, therefore they tend not to contribute significantly to value - hense the logic in selling these seperately.

2) What's it worth to you - probably significantly more that the figure you'll get for point 1.

Probably not worth worrying about either unless you really want to sell.

Nice drive BTW ;) ;)

Thanks for that.

Point 2 - Yes. As with everything it's easy to get caught up in the rush to get the latest. But actually, I am happy with the bike. "Buying a bigger and better camera doesn't make you a better photographer." I need to stick with what I've got and enjoy it - and get a few more touring trips under my belt.

...and yes, even if I say so myself, that drive does look good now, good enough to park the bike on!

Well, in my experience, the 'realistic' BMW price is about £1000 less than your relaistic price. :(

I suppose, at the end of the day, the realistic price is the lowest at which you would sell ;)

Dealer Ballpark Figure...

Yep, a dealer ballpark figure is £7250. I'll be hanging on to the bike. In two years I'll look to trade in for another 12GS or 12GSA - and probably go for used rather than new - too much of a depreciation hit in the first year. But I live and learn.
