Just spotted a blue/white 1150 ('03 ABS with 20k) in a local small (non-BMW) dealer.

Not ridden or seen the service history yet but it is spotless and looks in superb condition.

It also includes a full set of the black plastic BMW panniers & topbox + carriers (which I don't want so price to resale here or Fleabay would help too).

Dealer has an asking of £5295; Parker's suggest £4950 so with the panniers, it's not far out. I don't think he will move much on the price though.

Wot you guys think??? Anything I should specifically look for (bearings etc.)

It's not overpriced (from a dealer) or prticularly cheap:nenau What I would say is that if you really want an 1150 then get a good one while there's still some left, 20k is just about run in so it depends on the condition.

This may not have helped, but I'll bet you've already made your mind up;)

Have you got a link?.
Whats its history like and does it have any corrosion on forks, bottom yoke, front cover etc.Barely run in at 20K and in the very finest "Tesco Value" colours.:D.Luggage with rails worth about £200-275 in total, depending on condition.

Not had a look at the history or a ride/close inspection. Better get my a**e down there quickly now :blast

I have been looking for a private sale (I know, I have missed a few here) and this is a bit more than I wanted to pay. Trouble is, good ones are like rocking horse s**t; I wonder why :augie

So, should I get it or keep saving for 1200?????

Managed a (very) quick test ride on it - their idea is "up/down the road and if you damage it, it's yours!!".

It does sound smooth and rides very well. There is a full BMW service history, the rear bearings feel OK and no obvious corrosion (few marks on bottom yoke to keep an eye on).

BUT

I know this should be a big plus but I wasn't fussed about ABS (mate's 1150 had it fail steaming up to a junction and V.expensive to replace!!!).
Also, really am totally underwhelmed with it having a servo. Dead weight and more to go wrong IMHO - can it be taken off and disabled if it goes pop??

Given that I am a 5'8" short weakling, the 1150 is comfortable on the low seat but it is much heavier than the 1200. Delightful when on the move but when I (inevitably) drop it, where will I find a couple of passing navvies to help me pick it up?

Finally, not impressed with the buffeting from the standard screen which is nearly as bad as my TransAlp. Looks like I will have to shell out for a barn door - which one??

So, buy now or keep on saving??

If the ABS unit goes pop the braking system can be converted to conventional non servo brakes without ABS, local BMW independent does it regularly so don't let that put you off. :thumb

get it! looks great!

Make him a 4999 offer and its yours I reckon.... Reckon you will lose less than 1000 quid or none at all in the next 3 years and another 20k miles... Seen a few really ratty canary yellows on 52/53 plates with more miles going for similar prices...

I think that's a pretty good deal for a nice bike. I have the same one, but an 02 - which i got because I didn't want the servos...

But that's low mileage and i still think it's a good deal.

I have an ADV screen with fitments that I'll sell if you want it. I've been meaning to put it up for sale, but just haven't gotten around to finding abox and figuring out what to charge for shipping - sometimes it's just easier to hold on to things rather than selling them...

Kind of like marriage :augie
