For insurance purposes..

V plate 1150GS with ABS, heated grips

40k, Fair condition, partial service history

Have been offered 3.5k less excess (200), but was hoping for 4 - 4.5K.

Checking MCNs ads there are a couple of private sales, same age / milage, but from experiance of looking for an 1150 earlier on in the year all i found for that sort of money was sheds on wheels.

Is it worth me arguing or should i cut my losses and get on with life?

definetly worth arguing mate. I had a similar problem when my xr400r was stolen. First offer from them was £800. In the end i got £1500 out of the t'leaves and then they forgot to take the excess off that anyway! :)

Have you sent off some photos of your bike... or someone elses that looks identical... (without the plate showing of course!):augie

Also you should send off copies of reciepts for any servicing work you had done recently.. these will all increase the value of the machine for the insurer.

Being honest... about £4000 sounds fair if it was a minter... just because some people ask for loads for a crap un, doesnt mean its worth that. Stick to your guns though for a bit and the price will creep up im sure.

Also send in any recent adverts of bikes of similar age, condition and mileage, showing how much you will have to spend to get one just like yours :thumb2 Oh and make sure the adverts aren't from an old biketrader etc :augie:blast
