I am in the market for a 30th Anniversary GSA :clap and am keen to hear from anyone that has recently bought one to know what was the best deal that you managed to negotiate from the Stealer:nenau. I know that it comes with free Ally panniers but what else have you managed to get thrown in?

Cheers

Hey Simon,

I am not sure that it does to be honest...looking at the price sheet there is very much a charge for the racks and the boxes...I think the 'free' promotion was for the month of June (that is when I bought my 30 yr ann GSA) and that was a big reason for signing the deal......even then I didn't realise that it didn't include a top box :blast - if I wanted one of them that would be even more money....... off to EvilBay I went

I won't say how much I spent (lots) but I will say that it is a bloomin fantastic machine and I am not missing my knee down hooligan machine at all!!!:rob

Good luck with the bike mate.

So far the quote that I have definately include free panniers and mounts/rack but as you say doesn't include top box (£418 to you sir) nor the comfy pad (another £68.89). I will obviously try to do on deal on that - but what else to ask for?

Cheers

Simon

Agreed but who is that - please share "pretty please" - maybe we could get a bulk buy discount :augie

Tell you the best deal...pay up and join this forum so you can receive pm's... Some people might give up more advice in private... And could save you a whole lot if money! Or post email!

From whoever will do me the best deal... Don't care how far away they are....

should go to the best dealer - the one that will likely prove most helpful over the medium term - rather than the cheapest deal.

We all love the GS, but they are generally relatively unreliable bikes, and will likely demand a little or a lot of warranty work over the first couple of years depending on mileage and luck. Moreover they will keep going wrong after the warranty period.

On that basis (and by bitter experience - even my old 1150GS is not fault free), the last thing you d want is to have saved £500 off your 14k bill when new, only to get an seriously unhelpful BMW dealer (whom you ll be visiting quite a lot anyway) over the next few years. No shaming anyone here, but 2/3 BMW dealers are pretty poor. I mean poor customer service and even poorer technical capabilities.

Some dealers - my extensive experience for example with SBW mentioned above in Hertford - are truly excellent. I d easily pay top dollar with no discounts from them knowing they d truly look after me.

My 2p.

Bahnstormer are offering Rallye 3 jacket, trousers, GS boots and gloves as well as the panniers until the end of September but I believe only on the GS.

Cannon are saying that they have some 'fantastic deals' on the weekend of 25-26September to celebrate a birthday.

Ocean are offering a top box and a Nomad tent, again on the standard GS only.

John Clark are offering several cut price packages.

The big question is cost to change as a free top box and clothing is great until your trade in is a grand less. Try shopping around as dealers will reduce the price of options to secure the deal and as some posts have said, it's worth paying a bit more for the dealer that'll look after you.:rob

You can be your BMW from any dealer and your local still is required to service it and do warranty work... there is no reason not to chase down the best price... So I will buy from dealer who wants my money the most and get the bike serviced at the best "local" dealership.... Why wouldn't I?

Against my instincts but sort of agree. BMW is very corporate in many ways, reducing the product to a comodity.

However, Lind (who get all our money) really went the extra mile when Madame had ignition switch problems, including getting a very generous goodwill gesture from BuMW UK on top.

I was offered an EXCELLENT deal on an ex demo GSA. If you fancy saving a couple of thousand that's a good way to go. Cheaper than several 2010 bikes that have appeared on here.

The Anniversary is unlikely to be discounted at the moment due to high demand which makes the 'normal' models more likely to attract good deals.

because when you do a deal with your local dealer and have it serviced there, you build a relasionship with them which in the long run will work out better for you.too many people on here try to screw the dealer down in price and expect a red carpet service, service costs money.pay your money and take your choice but you cant have it all your own way in the real world.

in theory, thats right. You try and do it! Good luck!

They surely will be "servicing" your bike as well and as carefully as if you d bought from them and you had the od Sat morning coffee and a chat there...

OR they would pass on the job to its-my-4th-day junior mechanic spannerbrain.

"hey boss, i stripped the nut, I ll taper it and keep quiet, shall I?"

A strong case for your next bike.
Complimentary panniers with every BMW R 1200 GS or BMW R 1200 GS Adventure
R 1200 GS - Expandable Vario panniers with locks, worth £ 506 inc VAT
R 1200 GS Adventure - Handmade aluminium panniers with locks, worth £ 665 inc VAT
Click here to find your nearest dealer to place your order today.
Offer available at participating BMW Motorrad dealers in the UK. Offer applies to new R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure bikes (including new '30 Years GS' special edition models) that are first registered between 01 June and 31 December 2010 inclusive, subject to availability. Panniers mounting rails for R 1200 GS Adventure at extra cost.
So the pannier mounting rails are extra if you opt for the GS Adventure - you could start by asking to have those included in the deal - as someone has already stated the important figure is the price to change - together the GS and GS Adventure sales numbers make it the top selling bike in the UK so the dealers don't seem to need to offer much of a discount - there is always room to maneuver with optional extras and clothing - perhaps you could ask for a discount on inner bags for the luggage etc etc - get them to fit a fender extenda - tank bag - virtually everything for BMW is top dollar so if you need to accessorize now is the time to do it - today everything is negotiable don't be afraid to play one dealer off against the other after all we are talking a whole lot of dough here :augie
