What's the best little toolkit for a trip?

Mine did....'04 GSA.....one of those silly little green plastic boxes with the BMW oval plugs.....long since replaced with rat tail type and a better reamer/open eyed needle inserter.....

Any suggestions where to buy rat-tail type plugs & a better quality reamer/open eyed needle inserter from please?

Your puncture kit is now 12 years old. The rubber solution that comes with the kit will be no longer a solution, but a solid block.

'Stop and Go' puncture kits come in a self containing bag, you don't get your hands dirty, using the tools is a joy and it's a simple procedure.

Basically. Load the gun with the rubber plug, insert gun into puncture hole and pull the trigger. No glue or mess. I've used it on my car and bike.

If you have the standard bike sized CO bottles no point in adding any more than two bottles to re-inflate the tyre, as the pressure will be equal between the tyre and the bottle. .

What's wrong with the plugging kit and CO2 inflation setup in the stock toolkit? Serious question, I've always had faith in it being there but never had to use it.

The CO2 canisters do "go off" eventually. worth carrying one of the genuine innovations "big air" cans on a long ish trip as it has more capacity

I took a puncture repair kit, allen Key set and one of these.

Along with the standard tool kit spanners, it allowed me to change the alternator belt. Seemed like enough to get me out of the shit with simple stuff. A drive bearing failure would be best dealt with at a fully stocked garage so I didn't take a full tool kit.
