now get back to hoovering your drivers mats and tidying your glovebox.

If you know how, you can pop one open with a short knife, screwdriver or even a long key in about, ooo, half a second?

The only way of getting 'proper' security is by using a decent ally box with appropriate hasps and padlock.

There have been many threads over the years about top boxes being opened and lids nicked

Any luggage including the dearest ally ones can easily be opened with a crowbar. I wouldn't leave anything valuable/necessary in one where it wasn't in view or in an inherently safe environment.

Of course they can...but you wouldn't get too far wandering around in daylight wielding a crow bar or hammer.

The point is that Givi boxes in particular can be opened in seconds with ease, no noise and no tools that are going to get someone done for 'going equipped'.

An allow box can still be broken into, and with a good bash also in seconds, but only by those more determined to do so rather than opportunistic scrotes who just happen to see you lock away a £300 lid and fancy lifting it while they're out with no tools on them :)

Top of the box

I find a top box ideal for putting one's helmet in when off the bike, I hate carting it around with me also good place to keep map's (for us pre gps luddites!) Ideal for the sleeping bag ( carry your bag sir, No, let her walk the excercise will do her good!). weighs nowt and saves pannier space.
