What's the crappiest thing you've bought for the GS?

Worst buys.

Tesco broadband, had it for five months worked for two hours! , got a refund.
Corbin seat, comfort improved on long runs over standard but it did not fit,
finally found the pillion seat would only fit when one of the "allen bolts" was
removed. Should have sent it back, crap, no, expensive crap. And of course
the old fender extender joke. Still the only thing to do is just ride the thing
and not think about the stresses, i'll just buy a go faster stripe and I'm sure this will improve things.
dave (patron of usless parts) GS.

Nippys hugger thought it would stop the spray complete waste of time and money but would have to say everything else off NN was spot on and excellant service.:beerjug:

The TT windspoiler thingy. I dropped in to Bracken 3 yrs ago and asked to look at one. The helpful slaes man showed me how it fitted on my screen and promptly put 2 scratches down it. He sold me the thing at cost but I still binned it after fitting tobinators. Coudlnt bring myself to sell it to anyone on here.

my brother bought me a magnetic tank bag for my F650GS..

...the thought was there i suppose!:beerjug:

BMW Vario Top Box

Just how the f**k did the chief design chappie sign this off? Mine never got to shear off and hit the car behind as 5 minutes of attempted use convinced me that it was totally effing useless. Couldn't even get a single FF helmet in on its own, let alone my work clothes, laptop and briefcase (without helmet obviously  ).

Back to Givi and their 10-year-old basic deisgn, albeit tarted up in sliver and red plastic to match the 12GS. :ymca

A wonderlich top yoke therometer:clap when i put the the bar risers on it can not be seen sitting on the bike.

I bought a LED sidelight bulb for the 1150 and it lasted two weeks.

The idea being it would last forever and it was £6 with postage.

I can swallow the financial loss :D

There is a world of crap out there for the 1150gs.
There are some great things... and there are some really crappy ones too.

Crap...
touratech aluminum gps mount for my gpsmap... doesn't fit the unit at all...
big bulky and a pain in the ass to remove the unit altogether.

Bestrest products makes a tool compartment cover, absoloute GARBAGE...

bestrest.com
the powder coating flakes off, and the "ahem" replacement tool container is a plastic tube with rubber ends on it....
Piece of crap.
.

I replaced my Garmin GPS 12 MAP and touratech holder(are we talking of the same thing?) with a Tom Tom Rider. In my enthusiasm I damaged the holder. How I loved that holder. Cost me nearly as much as the s/h 12 MAP had, perfection it was. Now if only I could say the same for the Tom Tom one ...

As to the bestrest compartment cover, I love mine!! Although it probably hasnt done more than 30k over the 18 odd months I have had it, I have had stuff bungeed to it most days, and so far no flaking off the coating. I know I know, tomorrow the whole lot will fall off when I look at it......

And the plastic tube with the rubber ends keeps the tools a hell of a lot drier (rust free) than the original tool kit holders on my 1150 GS or 1100 S - a bit like the cheap plastic containers for the tools on my Yamaha DT 125 R (or like my old Honda C90, like my old R80 RT and K75S).

Although perhaps I should mention that dealing with bestrest.com was one of the most bizzare experiences of my life - everytime I bought something they waited a couple of weeks before sending me an email telling me it was now half price, and when (it was starting to hurt) I asked to be removed from their database, they said they would, but didn't, so I asked again, and I got some big story about how they were just good old american boys trying to make a living and what did they know about IT and they didn't need the likes of me criticising them 'cause they had done their best to remove me form their database, didn't know why I was still getting emails, but what were they supposed to do, and why was I being so mean asking to be removed when they were just trying to make a living......

Standard BMW 1150GS "Head Protectors". The only thing they protect is BM's parts sales revenue.

Even a stationary car park "drop" will break the useless things. Anyway, I just decided not to let it fall over any more and it ceased being a problem.:)

It's for the 1150. It didn't noticeably stop muck hitting the front of the engine, not low or wide enough.

Touratech sidestand switch cover................its the same size as the stock item from BM and provides no extra protection, but it did cost £14 so it must be good.

Wally flaps

NN flaps, fantastic at 30, toes feel warm and dry, but venture onto the motorway and they fold making it difficult to change gear. fixings to engine is a little scary too. :(

wunderlichh/civils ones look cosy;)

I can say it seeing as they have gone tits up:D

Motorrad Concepts paint job:rob

First power wash i.e from one of those cheap £30 jobs all the paint came off:eek:

Cost me £350 to put right then BMW brought out the GS in black and the panels cost £250 or there abouts so my paint job in total £600:(

Sheepskin seat cover, absolute shite. It made my arse warm and the standard 1200 seat uncomfortable! There is nothing wrong with the standard seat as it is!!!!!
