Hi,
anyone know the difference between City Navigator and City Navigator NT DVDs off the top of their head?
:beerjug:

New GPS's use the NT maps... which have their data arranged differently.... supposed to be faster...

I believe new GPS's will use old maps... but no old GPS's using NT maps...

Garmin says:

"Our City Navigator NT DVDs include the same detailed maps and coverage areas found on Garmin's City Navigator North America and City Navigator Europe DVDs. The primary difference is the compression technique we use to create these DVDs.

City Navigator NT data is identical to the content on existing City Navigator products, so you can still literally travel to a new city, look up your hotel, restaurants, and other services and use your compatible Garmin GPS to guide you there without stopping for directions. City Navigator NT includes the same fully routable detailed maps.

Since NT data is compressed differently than our other products, it can only be used with compatible Garmin devices. Some versions of City Navigator NT, such as North America and Europe, include traffic data that allows certain units to use traffic receivers."

Thanks guys.
They certainly don't make it easy to understand their products do they:blast
I rang Garmin and they gave me the GPS Warehouse phone no.

I suspect they need less techies and more 'normal' people working for them.

Anyway, looks like I need NT for my Zumo 550 - typical, it's the most expensive one!

Yes - I seem to remember being told that City Navigator NT is for the
nüvi series, zumo series and the StreetPilot C5xx series

Zumo is definently NT anyway.

A NT mapset is smaller in MB's than a non NT one and takes less time to be transfered to the unit, the downside of this is that it requires more prccessing to decompress and so slows it down a little..this is fine with the newer units but it kills the older ones like the the Quest2 and to a lesser extent the GpsMap 60Csx.
