Looking for some advice as trying to figure out the right price to advertise/sell my RT.

I've got a 2008 (57) RT SE in silver and has about 20K on the clock. Standard bike just with panniers. Has service history (partial main dealer and then owner maintained). Good overall condition (perhaps even 'great' IMO). There are some pics of it up in the 'non GS for sale' bit of site but consider it a standard RT.

Been watching them on eBay and Autotrader and not much is selling. Dealers got them up for £7-8K, privately there up for between £6.2 - £7 but haven't seen much interest on eBay for even the cheapest ones. Had a few calls/emails when advertised and suggested £6.5K would do it but no real follow-up or viewings. Think a few people mentioned they sold their 2005 RT's for around 5 - 5.5K.

Any advice on what you think the right pricing point should be? What's a realistic price to let it go for? Not interested in

I think that £6,500 is entirely reasonable for your bike. £6k is giving it away!

However, from my recent experience of buying and selling bikes (not a dealer; I own a couple of bikes and seem to change one of them quite often!) sales seem really slow at the moment. Almost to the point where however low you price it, it may take ages to sell. Unless you price it so low that a dealer scoops it up, of course.
Bikes seem to get lots of interest (page views on Ebay seem good) but a lot of that is just other motorcycle owners wondering what their bike is worth!

Try giving Gaz at the Adventure Bike Warehouse a call. He mentioned the other day that he might quite fancy an RT.

Well, if there is no or little interest in bikes at £6,200 - then perhaps the market value is £6k max?

Advertise it at £6,100 and be prepared to drop a couple of hundred.

All very well saying "at £6k you are giving it away", but if there are no buyers at that price - you have to accept that ia ain't worth it (to buyers).

My post may not appear so, but I entirely agree with Blackal- the bike is only worth what somebody is willing to pay at this point in time.

So you have to drop your price or wait. Prices fluctuate on all sorts of things (sold your gold yet?!). The bike market is slow at the moment. There are people looking to buy though. Try a bigger advertising strategy, more detailed pictures, etc.

Or drop the price :nenau

All seems like sensible advice. May try re-listing with fresh pictures and try a different marking approach. Alternatively, I may just SORN it away in my garage until things pick-up.

I've used PistonHeads, Gumtree, ebay, Autotrader and UKGSer to try sell bikes but have mixed views on effectiveness. eBay gets the most response but by default I get too many cheeky offers that verge on insulting. Autotrader is my preferred choice but seems a tad pricey for my liking.

What sites have others used and would recommend using?

Your pricing is spot on.
Just because there isnt a buyer today doesnt mean that you need to keep dropping the price till the vultures step in.
Be patient unless you are in a hurry to move it on. Good luck.:thumby:
