What's the usual admin/arrangement fee?

I was told that they now charge an admin fee of £40 per bike to set up cover which accounts for the attempt to charge me an extra £200 plus this year

Started getting the emails saying ins coming up for renewal.
A day or so later got the renewal invitation from Bemoto
Cover by Ageas, useful addition of Euro cover, breakdown etc all the usual Titanium package benefits.
'cos I'm an old git, total cost has risen slightly,
One thing struck me as being a little over the top was an increase in the admin fee from £21.95 to £50.00

Not certain that they have done anything in my favour to warrant this charge.

Whats the current thinking on Bemoto? searching found a few negative reactions recently.

Is one of their own still hanging around the forum?
Just walked from Bemoto after 5 years because of an attempted large hike in premiums , went with another company and got my multi bike policy for less than last years premium

Yep, need to start looking around, I must have a reminder set on the phone from one of the comparison sites as I got a text saying best renewal price was £108. Bemotos 'offer' is around £260 so the incentive is there to look at alternatives.
I don't generally go for the cheapest as I have always valued decent cover with smallish excess and euro cover - despite the fact that I have only ever made one claim for damage and have never needed any support in europe (or the UK for that matter).
I'm almost talking myself into minimum legally required cover - I have personal RAC on/in any vehicle through a bank account, and my bike is not one of your latest and greatest....

I do know that it won't be Bennets, regardless of price...

is that based on a recent appraisal or the historic reputation they deserved 20 years ago?

since being absorbed into larger companies, previously Saga, currently part of Lucida formed when three brokers merged, I have found Bennetts to be okay to deal with. It's Carole Nash that has gone downhill since their latest takeover by Atlanta. The latter tried to buy Bennetts as well but that was blocked by the regulator fortunately.

Slightly different subject but a few years ago I bought a two year old VW Golf from a main VW dealer. In addition to the listed price for the car was a £250 admin fee. I refused to pay this and said if they wanted me to buy the car they would need to waive this which they did.

@wessie, personal experience, I had a situation where I was reversed into at some traffic lights, 100% the other guys fault, filmed as it was the first day I had a camera on the bike.
Decided to tell Bennets of the accident but informed them there would be no claim on my policy. Once they realised that I was not prepared to have them refer me to their Claims management side of things (and hence have the ability to cream off some wonga) they completely lost interest and told me to ring the actual underwriters myself. Happy to take your money or assist further if they can make more money but forget it for anything else.

It may have been the particular person I was speaking to but there are enough alternatives to put up with that type of crap...

Sorry, this is a rehash of info on post #9

Most brokers are the same in this respect as they all have claims management services, often outsourched to the charlatans at 4th Dimension. Dealing direct with the underwriter and my own repairer would be my first choice. Speak directly to the underwriter's loss adjuster for any negotiations, the person that authorises the work and paying of the bill, not intermediary apes on targets to earn commission. I have learnt this through motor, travel and home insurance claims.
In my view, retail brokers, whether online like Bennetts or in a shop like Swinton, are nothing more than the insurance equivalent of a supermarket selling commodities.

NFU mutual are one such insurer
From 1 November 2024, NFU Mutual no longer offers Motorcycle insurance to new customers.

If you're a current customer, there is no need to worry. Your motorcycle will continue to be insured and your cover will carry on as normal for your full policy year.

You can still get in touch with us to make a claim or discuss your policy.

Quick thread revival, this years renewal admin fee is a grand £60...
Mine was £50 with IAM Surity/Cornhill. After going on Thebikeinsurer and getting cheaper quotes after speaking with the underwriters they reduced the premium and their admin admin fee and "gave" me £250 excess cover to get close to what Hastings had quoted online for their premium cover so I stayed put

BeMoto wanted £100 renewal fee this year, plus they had one of the bikes incorrectly listed.
Told them to sort that and when they came back the fee was £60 but the adjustment to correct the bike details miraculously meant that it was almost exactly the same price.
C*nts all of them.
There’s not an insurance company in the uk that isn’t a scam and breaking multiple regulations. But there is no incentive from any regulator to reign them in.

Hastings, £128 fully comp, zero vol xs, no breakdown in that but available at +110.
Realised I had my car with them, asked question but can't mix car and bike for multi poicy discount - bit short sighted I think

Wonder why yours was 100, is it multi bikes?

Edit just seen reference to 'one of the bikes', as you were.
Still excessive, at 60, its a 20% increase in the fee since last year
