What's this????

Morning All,

Just stripped down my bike to drill a hole in the hidden filter as per Moonmanzn thread and fit a fuel float. Quick question is does anyone know what this connector is on the bottom of the pump assembly? Wonder if it should have a connection to either the pump live or negative?

Yeah there is a black wire from pump to this connector, assuming it's an earth as it leads to a metal spring inside the filter housing and thats it
