Gives a clue of the general area you’re referring when you say “behind the bodywork” and an approx size, as it’s impossible to tell from the picture,
Sorry, I thought the snorkel was another clue. It’s behind the silver panel that bears the BMW badge, right hand side.

Think that’s parts and there is a connector for California emissions rubbish..

As Neil W says, I’ve never had anything there from new, but have used it to put excess cables from sat nav hidden away
