its a fujitsu-siemens laptop Amilo Pro V2045. i've downloaded all the drivers here that seem relevant, but the ??s remain. it all seems to work, but i want them gone

Looks like someone had an External H/D plugged in it at one time or another,

it's a laptop that the owner has done a windows repair (as opposed to clean install) on AFAICT. many drivers missing, which i have sorted out.

I'd select all the drivers except the obvious ones that you have (looks like you can do a mass download). Stick em on a CD, remove the device in device manager and then restart the pigdog with the CD in, XP should find the device and then look on hte CD for the relevant driver

i've installed all ticked. i suppose i could investigate the "software & tools" & "cpu" offerings, but i didn't think they would be relevant.

CPU driver is power saving, i guess? will bung that in tomorrow.

SATA driver is in, but it all worked ok before. what is a SATA port? it's IDE for me on my PCs

dvd check box makes no odds. doesn't seem to lead to any driver.

nothing of any use in the links for those files. anyone know where i might find the card reader driver? i'm not even sure it's fitted. there's some sort of plastic multi tray in the hole, but i don't see a way of loading any cards
