My 1200 GS with almost 16k miles, has killed its battery, I did the overnight Optimate direct to the terminals, and it started first thing this morning.

HOWEVER.

Before I did this, the diagnostic screen ended up on this: Pic below.

What does the little arrow next to the lightbulb mean, if anything.

I will fit and Odysey as soon as I sort a few other things, but in the mean time need to know what it means, as it never showed it before as the final pic to the diagnostic screen.

PS, Bike had HID conversion, but light still works once bike started, as I had thought it may be a fuse, or the bulb.

Front bulb warning light. I had a rear bulb warning light and had to change the bulb even tho it was working :nenau to get the warning light to go out

Isnt it for the group of riders who never check their oil or tyre peressures, so they sit on the bike facing the right way ;):augie

Its the blown bulb warning alright, I'd say the duff battery has caused a system reset or something similar.

I found I had it the first time I fired up the new bike but it disappeared after a few moments.

Is it showing all the time?

Interesting Thunder, once I started it successfully, it did disappear, will check when I take it for a ride tomorrow to fill up.

I think based on all the suggestions and yours that it was a duff battery reset thing. Will check all the bulbs and lighting once I start it up again.:thumb

Hi Grizz, glad you got sorted :thumb

Relieved to see you're still out there in cyberspace :friday

Zum Wohl :beerjug:

Symptom of a flat battery, either the HID ballast senses a low voltage and won't start, or the canbus controller limits the headlight current when the battery voltage falls on starting.

Mine did the same when I first fitted an Odyessey that needed a bit more charge, but all is well now.

Just dug my manual out.

shows the exact display and arrow you have on the pic

page 19 & 22

Bulb failure

Front parking light, low-beam headlight or high-beam headlight defective: replace bulbs

warning lamp

what hid kit you running?

some of the cheaper kits work, but put this lamp on due to the canbus wiring system.

the kits that les sells seem to be canbus compliant and decent quality which doesnt display warning lamp.

just an idea as i have seen this recently on a bike running a cheap chinese kit which didnt fire the ballast all the time, meaning starting the bike a couple of times to get hids working and warning lamp to go out.

Sounds very similar to my experience Grizz, I don't think it will be an issue in the future unless of course your new battery goes duff :blast:aidan
